Our employee-owners are unified by a singular commitment to supporting projects that address key societal issues, such as the transition to renewable energy, infrastructure hardening and repair, environmental protection, and community resilience.

Learn more about our award-winning culture, the benefits and perks of being a Dudekian, and the projects you will have the opportunity to shape.

How Youโ€™ll Make an Impact

Dudek is seeking a Civil Engineer to support site civil engineering design for energy and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on delivering technically sound, constructible designs for utility-scale solar, electrical substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and related infrastructure projects.

As an employee-owner, you will contribute to the development of site civil design packages from planning through construction support while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills in grading, drainage, hydrology, and stormwater design, along with demonstrated experience supporting energy and infrastructure projects within a consulting environment.

This position is well suited for an engineer with approximately 6+ years of experience who enjoys solving site development challenges and supporting projects that advance critical energy infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support civil engineering design for energy and infrastructure projects, including solar facilities, electrical substations, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Prepare site civil design components, including:
    Site layout and grading plans
    Drainage and stormwater management systems
    Hydrology and hydraulic analyses
    Erosion and sediment control design
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and Best Management Practices (BMPs)
  • Perform stormwater modeling and hydrologic analyses to support permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to deliver designs aligned with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, environmental, and permitting specialists.
  • Prepare technical calculations, reports, and construction documents for client and agency submittals.
  • Support client and agency coordination during design development and permitting.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and incorporate technical feedback into project deliverables.
  • Assist with construction-phase support activities as needed.
  • Contribute to development and improvement of civil design standards, workflows, and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive civil engineering experience supporting energy and infrastructure projects, such as utility-scale solar, electrical substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or similar developments.

  • Experience preparing site civil design plans and technical calculations for energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated experience with grading design, drainage systems, and stormwater management.
  • Experience performing hydrology or stormwater modeling.
  • Strong understanding of permitting and regulatory compliance requirements related to infrastructure development.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to meet Dudekโ€™s driving requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driverโ€™s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary consulting environments.
  • Experience preparing SWPPPs, erosion control plans, or stormwater reports.
  • Proficiency with stormwater and hydrologic modeling tools (e.g., HydroCAD, Storm Sewer, or similar).
  • Strong technical writing and client communication skills.
  • Interest in continued professional growth toward technical leadership or project management responsibilities.

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 annually

*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individualโ€™s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
