Position Summary

The Senior Director of Commercial Growth leads RIX Industries’ expansion across commercial markets by developing new applications, building a strong pipeline, and closing complex deals. This role translates RIX’s technical capabilities into sustained revenue across both established and emerging segments, while building long-term, trust-based customer partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial growth strategy across existing and emerging commercial markets, including industrial gas, medical oxygen, energy, rotating equipment, and renewable gas applications.
  • Identify, validate, and prioritize new market opportunities, customer applications, and strategic growth channels.
  • Develop and execute segment-specific go-to-market strategies that translate RIX’s technical capabilities into customer value and profitable revenue growth.
  • Build and manage a disciplined opportunity pipeline, including pipeline quality, forecasting, account strategy, deal progression, and conversion.
  • Personally lead business development and strategic deal activity in early-stage or high-value market segments.
  • Build executive-level relationships with customers, OEMs, channel partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations involving engineered systems, technical requirements, long sales cycles, and multi-stakeholder decision processes.
  • Secure anchor customers and lighthouse wins that establish RIX as a credible partner in priority commercial markets.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align customer needs with RIX’s technical and operational capabilities.
  • Lead, develop, and scale a small but growing commercial team, including role clarity, accountability, coaching, performance expectations, and talent development.
  • Establish a commercial operating cadence that supports customer experience, employee engagement, and financial performance.
  • Communicate market strategy, pipeline status, growth outlook, risks, and commercial priorities to senior leadership and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Represent RIX externally in customer meetings, partner discussions, industry events, and strategic market development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in business development, sales, commercial strategy, or commercial leadership.
  • Prior experience scaling a commercial organization during a growth or market expansion phase.
  • Proven success selling complex engineered systems, technical products, or industrial solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new markets, build customer demand, and convert early-stage opportunities into sustainable revenue.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles with medium- to long-term deal timelines.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline management, strategic account planning, pricing strategy, and commercial execution.
  • Experience building, leading, and developing high-performing sales or business development teams.
  • Experience in industrial gas processing, medical oxygen systems, energy applications, renewable gas, or advanced manufacturing markets.
  • Ability to engage credibly with executive-level customers, internal senior leaders, technical teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to connect technical performance, customer needs, and economic value.
  • Experience with compression systems, rotating equipment, gas handling systems, or engineered industrial equipment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, evolving, or early-stage commercial environments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influence, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30–60%, including customer, partner, and industry-related travel.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with government-adjacent or regulated industries (maritime, energy, medical).
  • Experience working in a highly engineered, low-volume / high-mix manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.

Compensation:

$210,000 + DOE
