What does a Remote Solar Installer do?

A Remote Solar Installer is responsible for installing solar panels and related equipment in locations where remote work is possible, often coordinating with on-site teams and using digital tools for planning and support. They may guide local crews, troubleshoot system issues, and ensure installations meet safety and efficiency standards. This role combines technical knowledge of solar energy systems with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively from a distance. Remote Solar Installers often handle project documentation, provide virtual training, and support system maintenance remotely.

The main difference between a Remote Solar Installer and a Solar Technician lies in their work environment and responsibilities. Remote Solar Installers focus on planning, design, and customer support remotely, while Solar Technicians are hands-on, working directly on installation and maintenance sites. Both roles require similar certifications, but their daily tasks and work settings differ significantly.

What unique challenges do Remote Solar Installers face compared to on-site installers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Solar Installers often face challenges such as coordinating site assessments and installations without being physically present, requiring strong communication skills and proficiency with virtual collaboration tools. They must rely heavily on detailed site photos, accurate measurements, and clear instructions to guide local teams or clients through the installation process. Staying organized and proactively addressing potential issues through thorough planning and follow-up are key to overcoming these challenges. Additionally, building strong relationships with on-site partners ensures smoother project execution and higher customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Solar Installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Solar Installer, you need a solid understanding of solar technology, electrical systems, and safety protocols, often supported by relevant certifications or technical training. Familiarity with solar design software, remote monitoring tools, and digital communication platforms is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective virtual communication skills help professionals excel in remote environments. These skills ensure safe, efficient installation and maintenance of solar systems, as well as clear collaboration with clients and team members from a distance.

Job description

Come work for the biggest and best solar company in the nation!

While other solar companies are contracting or shutting down, Powur keeps growing!

  • 4 consecutive Inc. 5000 appearances
  • 35,000+ installs | $1.5B in revenue | $10M+ cash reserves
  • Debt-free, profitable, and expanding
Remote Solar Sales Professional

Established Major Company Earn $150k+ Year 1 Keep up to 80% of Deal Revenue

This role is for experienced high-ticket sales professionals in California only.

Powur is looking for experienced solar sales professionals (or related high-ticket, commission-only sales experience) who know how to sell in California. This is a 100% commission, independent contractor role not a salaried position. If you're a proven closer who wants to keep more of what you earn, this is built for you.

The Role

This is a 100% commission independent contractor position. There is no base salary, no draws, and no guarantees your income is entirely tied to your performance. You will need to generate your own leads. In exchange, you keep a substantially higher share of revenue than you would at a traditional solar company, with no income ceiling.

  • Sell residential solar you set your own schedule and run your own pipeline
  • Use Powur's AI-powered platform for proposals, site surveys, permitting, and project tracking
  • Close deals virtually or in person 100% remote-capable
  • Build a team and unlock 6-level revenue-share overrides if you choose to scale
Compensation

All compensation is commission-based. There is no base pay.

  • Keep 7080% of revenue on every deal
  • High performing active reps can earn over $150,000.00 in their first 12 months
  • Top performers earn $750K+ plus six-figure equity grants
  • M1 milestone bonuses up to $2,500 per install milestone
  • Equity stock options starting with your first install
  • Vested equity that continues to grow over time
Who We're Looking For

You must have direct solar sales experience to be considered for this role.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a proven track record of closing solar deals in a Powur active state this is a hard requirement
  • Knows their market: regulations, utility territories, and local incentives in the states where they sell
  • Is comfortable working as a 1099 independent contractor with no guaranteed income
  • Wants to maximize take-home pay and is tired of sharing too much with their employer
  • Can hit the ground running we offer training and support, but we're not building your market knowledge for you

New to solar entirely? This is not the right opportunity. We are not looking to train people on solar fundamentals for this position.

Tools & Support
  • Powur University live and on-demand training, weekly masterminds, certifications in storage, roofing, and finance
  • AI platform that handles site surveys, permitting, project tracking, and virtual outreach
  • Structured onboarding + optional mentorship
  • A network of high-performing reps across our active markets and a culture built around results
A Mission Worth Selling

Powur is a Public Benefit Corporation. Every deal you close contributes to funding solar installations for families living without electricity around the world. Your commission isn't just income it's impact.

The Bottom Line

The solar industry is consolidating around platform models. Traditional solar companies are losing ground. Powur is the platform that wins in that environment and we're looking for proven solar sales pros in our active markets who want to own that opportunity, not just punch a clock for it.
