This opportunity is in the Ceded Reinsurance department.
The Ceded Reinsurance Department's mission is to protect the company's surplus through the purchase of reinsurance and provide accurate reporting of liabilities to our reinsurers, broker community, and internal employees, while encouraging innovation and creativity. We are responsible for collecting liability balances, reporting accurate financial statements, following contractual obligations, and ensuring security. Adhering to superior client service principles throughout this process allows our reinsurers and broker partners to become life-long customers and contributing members of our ceded reinsurance community.
Role Description:
As the Senior Ceded Reinsurance Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in supporting and overseeing Safety National's ceded reinsurance placement and analysis in partnership with the Treaty Committee. You'll collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, accounting, claims, brokers, and reinsurers to develop effective reinsurance solutions that protect the company's financial strength while supporting strategic business objectives.
In this role, you'll lead the administration and implementation of complex reinsurance programs, oversee facultative placements, coordinate treaty renewals, and ensure accurate reporting and documentation across all ceded reinsurance activities. You'll serve as a trusted subject matter expert, providing guidance to internal business partners, fostering strong relationships with brokers and reinsurers, and driving process improvements through reporting standardization and system enhancements. Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related field is required.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of experience working with underwriting, accounting, and claims processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of broker market reinsurance contract wording and underlying insurance policies and coverages.
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of statutory and GAAP reporting.
  • Experience supporting or managing reinsurance placements, treaty administration, and facultative placements.
  • Experience preparing financial, operational, and management reports.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, think strategically, and collaborate across multiple business areas.
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting revenue and expenses.
  • Understanding of insurance company operations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate proficiency with databases and data queries.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 or more years of experience in reinsurance, insurance, or a related industry
  • Professional insurance or reinsurance designations such as CPCU, ARe, RPLU, or similar are preferred.
  • Experience interpreting and negotiating reinsurance contracts and related agreements.
  • Experience coordinating broker and reinsurer audits and visits.
  • Experience supporting captive and fronting programs.
  • Experience leading reporting standardization initiatives and collaborating on system testing or upgrades.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Professional insurance or reinsurance designations such as CPCU, ARe, RPLU, or similar are preferred.
