Job description

Meta is looking for an AI Policy Manager to join our AI Policy team. In this role, you will work closely with the team to navigate novel and complex issues related to the governance of AI. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to help develop Meta’s AI policy positions, support strategic engagement with academic and civil society stakeholders, and develop proactive responses to new and emerging AI governance questions.
AI Policy Manager Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain Meta’s advocacy positions on a wide range of AI policy issues, ensuring they are aligned with our product roadmap and broader policy objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to AI policy
  • Support the team’s engagement with a global network of third-parties, including academic institutions, research centers, and civil society organizations
  • Track and analyze emerging AI policy issues and trends, providing insights and recommendations to internal teams
  • Prepare briefing materials and other advocacy materials for internal and external use
  • Represent Meta in external forums, including academic conferences and policy workshops, as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, political science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in public policy, with a focus on AI technology or other related technologies
  • Proven understanding of the AI policy landscape, including key debates around safety, governance, ethics, and accountability
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners to advance policy goals
  • Experience in supporting stakeholder engagement strategies and managing external events
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with external stakeholders, such as academics, researchers, and civil society organizations
  • Highly organized, with the capacity to meet high expectations and execute complicated tasks across different topics
  • Proven track record of communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated experience successfully conveying complex policy issues to a wide range of audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
  • JD or Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working at a technology company on AI policy issues
  • A network of contacts in the academic and civil society communities focused on AI
  • Familiarity with global AI policy and regulatory developments
  • Experience in organizing and executing policy-focused events and campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
