Job Description:

The Senior Project Manager will be part of an IT team delivering fully engineered control system solutions for Generation power plants. This role focuses on supporting the delivery of replacements or upgrades to Power System Controls (SCADA, Ovation DCS, Turbine Controls, CEMS, Plant Data Services). The Senior Project Manager will oversee project management, engineering design, system integration, testing, and commissioning to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients. This position plays a key role in project execution, contract compliance, client satisfaction, and financial performance. The Senior Project Manager will also provide leadership and strategic direction to project teams and support project development, budgeting, and scheduling at the portfolio level.

Your Role:
  • Plan, forecast, and manage project execution from initiation to completion, collaborating with technical leads, group managers, or designated mentors as needed.
  • Ensure supplier commitments are met in accordance with contracts and enhance client satisfaction through timely issue resolution and consistent communication (e.g., kick-off meetings, status reviews).
  • Apply contract terms and negotiation skills to manage scope and support financial aspects of the project (e.g., cash flow, forecasting). Identify and mitigate project risks, escalating issues to management when necessary and providing recommendations during reviews.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to maintain project budgets (capital and O&M), review change requests, and align with prioritized product backlogs.
  • Keep stakeholders informed and complete Benefits Realization Closure activities. Manage project budgets using company protocols and tools to meet financial and scheduling goals. Enforce quality procedures and best practices, ensuring compliance with internal and external audit standards.
  • Review team deliverables to ensure they meet the highest quality standards before submission to clients. Manage internal and vendor resources according to project plans or contracts.
  • Oversee site activities during outages and provide regular updates. Participate in assignments and meetings to enhance skills and expand knowledge.
Your Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, business, or a related field. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Certified Scrum Master, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience leading projects or managing key business initiatives. Experience with Turbine Controls Retrofit and Automation Controls (DCS systems or similar).
  • Familiarity with plant operations and site management. Proven success in implementing power plant deployment projects in regulated utility environments. Willingness to travel up to 30%. Strong negotiation and influence skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, QlikView, Workfront, PRISM, UMT 360). Experience with various project methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, CIDLC, SDLC, Waterfall).
  • Client-focused with the ability to understand and respond to business needs. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, delegate, monitor, and hold team members accountable.
  • Effective collaboration with internal teams, third parties, and stakeholders at all levels. Ability to manage cross-functional work, mitigate risks, and deliver exceptional service.
  • Strong decision-making, results orientation, team leadership, and adaptability to new technologies. High ethical standards, interpersonal skills, stress management, and commitment to continuous learning.

 

Nice to have:

  • Graduate degree in business, leadership, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of utility business processes and operations.
  • Network/Infrastructure certification.
  • PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB or LSSBB), or Certified Change Manager (CCM) credentials.

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $82,000 - 193,000/year.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
