Position Overview

ATCO Frontec is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support remote Northern and Arctic infrastructure projects focused on the construction and installation of water treatment facilities and associated site infrastructure. This role is responsible for leading field execution activities during the construction phase, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery in challenging remote environments.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on field leader with strong civil, structural, and modular construction experience. Experience working in remote or camp-based environments is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Supervision & Field Execution

  • Lead and supervise all site construction activities for remote water treatment and infrastructure projects.
  • Execute construction work in accordance with issued-for-construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project procedures.
  • Monitor daily progress, manpower productivity, and work quality.
  • Identify constructability issues, field conflicts, and schedule risks early, and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to crews while maintaining a positive, accountable site culture.

Civil, Structural & Modular Works Oversight

  • Oversee civil works including excavation, grading, trenching, concrete, foundations, underground utilities, and site development.
  • Support installation and integration of modular buildings, structural systems, and mechanical support infrastructure.
  • Coordinate construction activities around engineered designs and third-party consultant requirements.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate daily execution activities between subcontractors, vendors, client representatives, engineering teams, and project management.
  • Maintain strong communication between field crews, engineering, logistics, and project stakeholders.
  • Support remote logistics planning including material coordination, equipment utilization, and workforce management.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with client, company, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, field hazard assessments, inspections, and incident prevention activities.
  • Support quality control, deficiency resolution, commissioning assistance, and turnover activities.

Equipment & Site Support

  • Operate equipment as required to support execution and changing site conditions, including skid steer, telehandler, and aerial work platforms.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong civil construction experience, including excavation, grading, concrete, foundations, and earthworks.
  • Strong structural and modular construction experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field execution with limited oversight in remote environments.
  • Proven problem-solving ability and sound field decision-making under pressure.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license.

Assets

  • Experience working in remote, Arctic, or Northern camp-based environments.
  • Experience with water treatment, utility, or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating remote logistics and material movements.
  • Understanding of quality control, commissioning support, and project turnover requirements.
