We are an expanding diagnostic imaging practice based in Calgary, Alberta, providing a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging, musculoskeletal, obstetrical, interventional radiology, and pain management services. Our subspecialty-trained radiologists work collaboratively with highly skilled imaging technologists, nurses, researchers, and administrative professionals to deliver an exceptional patient and practitioner experience.

Beam Radiology is an innovative organization driven by clarity of vision and strong values, focused on clinical excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and putting our people first. We are also actively involved in clinical research that advances care and improves lives in the communities we serve.

The Opportunity

Beam Radiology is seeking a Project Management Officer (PMO) to join our Operations and Research team. This role plays a critical part in coordinating and governing organizational projects, strengthening operational execution, and supporting research and innovation initiatives, including oversight of SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) activities. The PMO will also coach and influence clinical leaders and staff, establishing disciplined project structures, governance, and ways of working that enable consistent delivery across clinical environments. This is a senior, revenue‑impacting leadership role responsible for coordinating high‑value initiatives, optimizing operational execution, and overseeing SR&ED‑eligible activities that directly contribute to organizational growth and financial performance.

The successful candidate will bring 10–15+ years of progressive experience in project, program, or PMO leadership, with a proven track record of delivering complex initiatives, enabling research commercialization, and supporting SR&ED claims or similar innovation funding programs.

This role functions as a strategic partner to executive leadership, working closely with physicians, researchers, finance, and operational leaders to ensure projects deliver measurable value, are audit‑ready, and align with Beam Radiology’s long‑term strategic and revenue objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and govern an enterprise‑level project portfolio spanning operations, research, data, and innovation initiatives.
  • Establish and lead the Project Management Office (PMO), including frameworks, standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Ensure consistent project governance, prioritization, and alignment with Beam Radiology’s strategic objectives.
  • Establish PMO standards that drive measurable operational efficiencies, risk reduction, and financial impact.
  • Partner with finance and executive leadership to align projects with revenue generation, cost recovery, and funding strategies.
  • Develop project charters, schedules, budgets, and risk registers, providing executive‑level reporting on project performance, ROI, risk exposure, and strategic alignment.
  • Monitor project performance, timelines, costs, and deliverables, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Drive disciplined execution across complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives within regulated healthcare environments.

Research, Innovation & SR&ED Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership oversight of SR&ED‑eligible projects related to diagnostic imaging, clinical research, data platforms, and technology‑enabled innovation.
  • Assess SR&ED eligibility across medtech, imaging workflows, data management, and research initiatives, ensuring alignment with CRA requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate SR&ED initiatives to ensure projects are structured, tracked, and documented to support defensible claims and CRA audits.
  • Collaborate with researchers, clinical leaders, data teams, finance, and external advisors to maximize SR&ED recovery while maintaining full compliance.
  • Translate complex research, clinical, and data‑driven innovation activities into clear, well‑structured SR&ED technical narratives and claims.
  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation for technical work, time allocation, experimental development activities, and project governance.
  • Support continuous improvement in research operations, innovation processes, and SR&ED claim rigor within a healthcare and medtech context.

Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant project documentation and records.
  • Develop and manage dashboards, reports, and KPIs to support leadership decision-making.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with internal policies, funding requirements, and regulatory expectations.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment including physicians, researchers, clinical leaders, and administrative teams.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Support change management initiatives related to new systems, workflows, or operational enhancements

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in PMO leadership, program management, or senior project management roles.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • Demonstrated experience in SR&ED, R&D tax credit programs, or innovation funding with a proven track record of successful claims or audits.
  • Experience operating in revenue‑generating or cost‑recovery roles, with accountability for outcomes and financial impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Science, Health Informatics, or a related field (Master’s degree considered an asset).
  • Exceptional ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels within complex organizations.

Preferred / Assets

  • Experience in medtech, health technology, digital health, or data‑driven healthcare environments.
  • Experience leading data management, analytics, imaging, AI, or clinical data platforms.
  • Experience supporting research, innovation, or SR&ED-related initiatives.
  • Experience in healthcare, diagnostic imaging, life sciences, or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Monday.com, or similar).

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Location: In-person at Beam Radiology administrative offices and clinics across Calgary (hybrid consideration may be available)
  • Travel: Occasional travel between Calgary clinic sites may be required

Compensation & Total Rewards
