Job description

Auterion builds a cutting-edge operating system for autonomous robotic systems that empower a diverse range of platforms to perform surveillance, reconnaissance, inspection, mapping and logistics tasks. Our industry-leading software drives the adoption of robotic fleets and is recognized by the U.S. government as the future standard for its drone programs.ย 

We are looking for an Enterprise Solutions Engineer taking on tasks within the AuterionOS ecosystem, from analysing flight control performance, writing applications to adding driver support for new peripherals, maintaining system services and optimizing performance on embedded platforms.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PX4 autopilot platform
  • Get a full system understanding of C/C++, Python & Bash codebases from embedded to cloud
  • Foster professional relationships with key partners in the US
  • Work within the Enterprise team in Zurich as a remote engineer and collaborate with other development teams to build leading-edge products
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand customer use cases
  • Analyse flight performance of aerial systems, add features, solve bugs, improve the performance of software
  • Add features, solve bugs, write tests and improve the performance of software components running on AuterionOS, Auterionโ€™s custom embedded Linux distribution
  • Propose new software solutions and take ownership of the implementation. Your technical expertise will have a huge impact on bringing Auterionโ€™s drone products to market
  • Provide expert support (L3) to customers facing technical issues
  • Write clear and concise internal documentation, in addition to contributing to the public-facing knowledge base
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, as well as release planning and task prioritization meetings

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience writing object-oriented C++ and Python code in a professional setting
  • Proficient in C++ development on Linux platforms
  • Working knowledge of computer network principles
  • Skilled in using network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump) to identify and resolve network issues
  • Experience writing modular software using modern design practices
  • Detail oriented with great technical documentation and communication skills
  • Understanding of C++ Build Systems (eg. CMake), Dependency Management & Cross Compilation
  • Familiarity with autonomous systems, particularly flying robots, is a great plus
  • Bonus: Experience with video streaming and MIPI CSI drivers
  • Bonus: Previous contributions to open source projects, especially in the Linux ecosystem
  • Bonus: Experience with CI/CD systems, such as Jenkins, GitHub actions, GitLab CI
