Job Overview

The Digital Program Manager delivers business results by championing a culture of accountability and consistent project and program management practices. The role serves as a facilitator and motivator, working across departments and offices to ensure collaboration, communication, visibility, and the successful delivery of large, cross-functional programs across Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com, and their associated mobile apps. The Digital Program Manager guides and delivers value for key digital initiatives by partnering closely with Product, User Experience, Analytics, and Engineering teams.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee and own initiatives that advance strategic company objectives and the overall digital vision.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional programs with multiple dependencies, partnering with executive leaders and multiple business areas.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and roadblocks, and drive timely resolution.
  • Develop and manage program timelines, tracking implementation while effectively engaging Product, User Experience, Analytics, and Engineering partners to drive efficiency and strong outcomes.
  • Uphold and lead organizational change management discipline across programs and initiatives.
  • Understand interdependencies and downstream impacts of programs across business units.
  • Provide recommendations on program dependencies that may affect the success of other initiatives, and challenge existing processes to propose meaningful improvements.
  • Deliver analysis and insights on issues critical to achieving the company’s strategic goals.
  • Lead program and initiative reviews with stakeholders and senior leadership to drive alignment and clear outcomes.
  • Build strong followership around shared goals and effectively manage diverse stakeholder groups across business areas.
  • Support the creation of stakeholder-facing metrics, executive summaries, presentations, and ongoing reporting.
  • Plan and manage special projects using established project management best practices.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Skills You Will Need

Program & Portfolio Management: Strong project and program management expertise, with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned to strategic business objectives.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence diverse, matrixed teams—including Product, User Experience, Analytics, Engineering, QA, and executive stakeholders—across multiple business areas.

Strategic Thinking & Business Acumen: Ability to understand enterprise-wide priorities, assess program interdependencies, and provide insights and recommendations that drive the company’s digital vision and strategic goals.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management: Skilled at proactively identifying risks, issues, and roadblocks, managing dependencies across initiatives, and driving timely resolution to ensure successful delivery.

Change Management: Strong understanding of organizational change management principles, with experience leading adoption, alignment, and disciplined execution across large-scale programs.

Technical Fluency: Comfortable translating between technical and business audiences, with hands-on experience working closely with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Delivery Methodologies: Experience working across multiple delivery frameworks (Lean, Agile/Scrum, and hybrid models) to drive efficiency, predictability, and high-quality outcomes.

Stakeholder Communication & Executive Presence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create executive-ready metrics, summaries, presentations, and reporting that drive clarity and alignment.

Analytical & Decision-Making Skills: Data-informed, decisive problem solver who evaluates complex information, makes informed decisions quickly, and focuses on outcomes and results.

Leadership, Influence & Team Building: Natural ability to build followership, motivate teams, resolve conflict, and influence without direct authority in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Adaptability & Autonomy: Highly adaptable self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, works independently with minimal supervision, and effectively manages remote and distributed teams.

  • 4-plus years of related experience. PMP certification preferred.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
