Job description

Accepting applications, start upon contract activation, for Travel Case Managers who will support a nationwide Remote program focused on child safety, location verification, wellness verification. We advocate for compassion and justice for all migrants. The position is approximately 90% travel, short-notice travel, overnight, and multi-state travel. Work schedule is subject to early mornings, evenings, weekends, and hours outside the regular workday as authorized and required for travel, field assignments, documentation, incident response, and other operational needs.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The travel Case manager will validate residential address, living arrangements, conduct safety and wellness-related suitability, and document case information of Unaccompanied Children. Supporting staff may carry out field-based information collection, document observations, go on residential verification visits, assist with operational reporting needs, and work in tandem with assigned program staff.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Conduct assigned Safety Verification Initiative (SVI) field visits at residential addresses provided by the Government, or other approved location, within authorized hours with the dual purpose of assessing safety and suitability of child’s placement.

  • Verify and document whether the child resides at the designated address; and whether the child resides with identified sponsor, family members, guardian, or other household members.
  • Observe, notify, and document potential indicators of abuse, neglect, abandonment, trafficking, exploitation, or other safety concerns, and follow company protocol.

  • Report and document refusals, no-access granted, absence, safety stops, inability to complete wellness, new address or any other location information in accordance with required procedures and timelines.
  • Maintain regular and timely communication with supervisor around any issues concerning the child’s safety, stability, or well-being in the placement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, or Sociology, or other social service field, with particular focus on child and adolescent development. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. 
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children, vulnerable population, or refugee population.
  • Experience in case management, social services, child welfare, family services, refugee/immigrant services, community outreach, behavioral health, or related human services work.
  • Crisis intervention skills, Deescalation skills, and the ability to recognize indicators of abuse, neglect, abandonment, trafficking, exploitation, or other safety concerns.
  • Experience conducting home visits, field interviews, safety observations, or community-based service delivery, preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical assessment and analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, determine priorities, and work independently.
  • Ability to do home visits up to 70%.
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with refugee or immigrant children, preferred.
  • Strong attention to details and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Accurately document work performed and information collected.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 

Special Position Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be available to drive as required for the position. 
  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check as well as a CA/N check for every state in which they have resided in the last five years.
  • Hybrid remote/in office work.
