Job description

Senior Actuarial Analyst - Remote
Working with a high degree of autonomy in a remote work environment, the Senior Actuarial Analyst provides contributions to the actuarial pricing and reserving group based on knowledge from the actuarial exam system and prior relevant academic or work experience. They will mentor Actuarial Analyst colleagues while applying their knowledge to actuarial analysis of personal lines in the pursuit of solving problems to meet business objectives.
What You'll Do:
  • You will extract, manipulate, and validate data from relevant sources, and assess data quality. Supporting the business and overall team by performing analyses/reviews and completing ad-hoc requests/special projects in a timely manner with some support from peers and leaders. Evaluate procedures and processes and suggest potential alternatives or improvements.
  • You'll evaluate existing processes to find areas for increased efficiency. Identify opportunities for automation of routine tasks and suggest new approaches to problem solving and assess impacts of solution options with some support from leaders.
  • You will maintain knowledge of current industry news and trends and consider their impact on Wawanesa. You'll represent Wawanesa at external events that may include universities, actuarial clubs, industry organizations, and charitable causes.
  • You'll commit to professional development and continuous experiential learning to build cross-functional knowledge, technical skills, and mastery in competencies.
  • You will provide regular project updates to stakeholders and build trust with teams around the actuarial function.
  • You'll contribute to the mentorship, training and development of actuarial analysts.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related discipline.
  • Two years of actuarial experience with experience in California personal lines preferred.
  • Have completed a minimum of four actuarial exams and plan to continue to complete examinations required to obtain fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Proficient SQL and data manipulation skills an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer/Programming Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Excel, R, Python and/or other related software/programming languages/actuarial software.
  • Solid foundation of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business knowledge, and ability to apply this knowledge to problems in insurance. Ability to suggest solutions or alternative approaches to significantly material issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner, proactively keeping leader informed of progress.

The starting pay range for this position is $84,538 - $126808.
Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
