At Google, marketing starts with technology and ends with the user. As a Sr Graphic Designer for the Platforms & Devices team, you will lead the execution of high-fidelity 2D design assets, layout systems, and visual identity systems for Google's physical retail environments.
In this role, you will apply and evolve global brand guidelines across our hardware portfolio-including Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit. Sitting at the intersection of graphic design and environmental branding, you will combine an expert eye for typography, composition, and visual storytelling with a practical understanding of how 2D brand elements integrate into complex 3D retail spaces.
Location: Remote (Preferred: Within commuting distance of Mountain View, CA or NYC for periodic in-person collaboration)
Key Responsibilities
  • Visual Systems & Asset Execution: Lead the creation of production-ready 2D graphic assets, typographic systems, and visual messaging layouts for global retail displays, localized signage, and promotional fixtures.
  • Brand Governance: Apply and extend Google's global brand guidelines with meticulous precision, maintaining absolute consistency in typography, imagery, and color systems across every physical retail touchpoint.
  • Spatial & 3D Integration: Partner closely with Spatial Designers to align 2D visual assets with 3D structural layouts, ensuring graphics seamlessly fit physical fixtures and architectural constraints.
  • Print Production & Preflight: Prepare flawless, production-ready mechanical files for external vendor hand-off, with expert application of bleed lines, die lines, high-resolution standards, and color profiles (CMYK/Pantone).
  • Proofing & Material Quality Control: Collaborate with Creative Production to inspect physical material swatches, print proofs, and color draw-downs, guaranteeing print quality matches Google's premium design standards.
  • Asset Operations & Versioning: Manage complex project asset libraries, maintaining strict version control and driving rapid, high-quality design revisions during iterative review cycles.

Requirements:

  • Software Tools: Expert mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and Google Workspace.
  • Print & Prepress Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of print production processes, color management, substrate capabilities, and vendor mechanical hand-off workflows.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Proven ability to work side-by-side with spatial designers, creative directors, and external production partners in a fast-paced environment.
