Job description

Lead impactful electric utility projects that help strengthen and modernize the power grid across PPL Electric Utilities' service area. As a Project Engineer, you'll oversee overhead and underground distribution projects from planning through construction, partnering with clients, engineers, and field teams to deliver storm hardening, system improvement, new construction, reconductoring, and grid modernization initiatives. If you enjoy leading projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and making a lasting impact on critical infrastructure, we'd love to have you on our team.

What you'll do:

  • Applies complex technical information to designs and ensures projects meet specifications
  • Responsible for fully understanding design requirements in their area of expertise
  • Leads small to medium or multi-discipline projects and directs the activities of Design Engineers working on their projects
  • Prepares complex technical analyses
  • Willing to share information with team as well as question internal and external Stakeholders to appreciate the design requirements and nuances of tasks
  • Reports to the PM and communicates challenges about scope, cost, schedule and quality
  • Interacts independently with clients, estimates proposals, and understands the role of business development in operations goals
  • Helps the Design Coordinator evaluate design personnel and assign design related tasks to Designers and Drafters
  • Reviews and provides feedback on vendor drawings related to their projects
  • Performs independent engineering reviews of simple projects prepared by other engineers
  • Provides input to PMs and leadership concerning potential process and design improvements
  • Ensures that the quality control process is followed, including documentation utilizing the Quality Review Tracking tool for engineering, formatting, and independent reviews
  • Self-checks work assignments prior to submitting for review, completes work with minimal errors. Participates in peer reviews and QC reviews.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minium Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience preferably with PPL Electric Utilities
  • Experience with utility design software such as ArcFM, ArcMap, Infor, PoleForeman, and AutoCAD.
