What We're Looking For:
If you have experience inย delivering important national security space and ground solutions, then you will be excited about theย Vice President, Engineeringย opening with Iridium.ย ย In this role, youย willย manage aย high performing engineering organization that is delivering onย multiple critical complexย space and ground systems for the U.S.ย Government.ย ย Yourย main focusย will be toย manage and growย the engineering team and enable Iridium toย resource a fast-paced,ย high growth portfolioย focused on development and operations ofย satellite,ย communications, PNT, andย ground systems.ย ย ย
This position requires an active/currentย Top-Secret/SCIย Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).ย
What You'll Do:
- Foster and develop a highly effective team ofย engineering professionals focused on delivering spaceย and groundย solutions to national security customersย
- Provide strategic leadershipย forย engineeringย support forย the company'sย national securityย portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives and government customer prioritiesย
- Direct and integrate cross-functional teams includingย systems,ย software,ย andย network engineeringย toย deliver on program commitments and new business pursuitsย
- Guide program execution across active contracts to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and customer requirementsย
- Partner withย theย businessย developmentย teamย toย identifyย new opportunities, shape requirements, and position the company competitively for upcoming solicitationsย
- Assist withย bid/no-bid evaluations based on strategic fit, risk, and returnย
- Ensure operational readiness and scalability to support awarded work, including workforce planning, subcontractor coordination, and infrastructure alignmentย
- Foster strong relationships with prime contractors, government stakeholders, and internal executives to support long-term partnerships and contract growthย
- Champion continuous improvement in proposal processes, program delivery, and cross-functional collaborationย
- Mentor and develop senior leaders and functional heads, driving accountability, performance, and succession planningย
- Represent the company at executive reviews, customer briefings, and industry engagements related to program performance andย engineering solutions for new customer initiativesย
- Align strategic priorities across functions to balance execution of current contracts with pursuit of new work and long-term portfolio growthย
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy, organizational planning, and growth initiativesย
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degreeย preferableย inย engineering disciplineย OR equivalent relevant experienceย with non-technical degreeย
- 15+ years of relevant experience in theย government contractingย industryย with a focus on national security and space or ground related programsย
- Previousย management experienceย of large teams of engineeringย professionalsย for national security space programsย
- The ability to manage complexย systemsย and manage risk for engineering solutionsย
- Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and exemplifying commitment toย the company'sย goalsย
- Excellent leadership qualities and the means to hold yourself and others accountable for their workย
- A strategic mindset and the ability toย facilitate collaboration across multiple departmentsย
- The skills needed to tackle complex challenges head onย
- Able to confidently drive discussions, make decisions, and respond toย difficult situationsย
- Actively looks forย opportunities for growthย to improve the way things are doneย

- Master's degree inย engineering disciplineย
- Business development and strategy experienceย
- Previous experience inย national security with the U.S.ย Governmentย

- Be able to travel up toย 20%ย
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.ย

Under Iridium's Hybrid Work Policy, employees are expected to work at least three days per week (approximately 60%) in an Iridium office to support collaboration, relationship-building, and professional growth.
