Job Description
The Tenth Judicial District, which includes eight counties in the Northern Suburbs of the Twin Cities Metro Area, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Court Operations Supervisor to join the Pine County Court Administration team in Pine City, MN.
The Court Operations Supervisor is responsible for assigning, directing, supervising, and coordinating the work of an assigned work unit/division to ensure that cases are processed in a timely and accurate manner. As a Court Operations Supervisor, you will directly supervise a moderate number of staff in a Court Administrator's office in a medium to large county. This position requires excellent communication, the ability to analyze legal documents for content and interpret/apply statutes and court rules. This position also requires the ability to make sound, independent judgment and decisions, and deal with diverse populations including staff, judges, stakeholders, and attorneys.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:
  • Processes and directly supervises criminal filings for Pine, Isanti, Chisago, and Kanabec Counties. May be responsible for a specialized case processing activity such as preparing appeals; answering procedural questions for staff.
  • Performs a wide variety of complex court clerical and supervisory clerical assignments; reviews and processes legal documents, assures completeness and accuracy of court records; schedules cases, may be responsible for a specialized case processing activity such as assist leadworker with training of in court clerks and cover court as needed, works with supervisor and subordinate staff to develop and implement new procedures and responds to changes in the law.
  • Works with other PICK supervisors and subordinate staff to develop and implement new procedures; and responding to changes in the law as they pertain to the division; and simplifies work processes so that the division operates more efficiently.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and providing orientation to staff members regarding new rules and legislation pertinent to the division and updating appropriate manuals for current use.
  • Processes and directly supervises financial work: fee disbursements, special accounts, daily deposits, bail/bonds.
  • Responsible for office oversight and staffing; supply ordering, coordination of office schedules, troubleshooting courtroom technology issues, assignment of courtrooms, and office maintenance.
  • Directs the workflow of the division to ensure that work is fairly distributed, that priority work is handled promptly, and that deadlines are met.
  • Interprets statutes, rules, and orders and provides recommendations on procedural questions to attorneys, subordinates, and the general public.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching/mentoring, developing/training of staff, and evaluating the performance of staff according to established standards.
  • Performs calendar management, including developing/updating the Court's calendar plan and entry of calendar sessions into the case management system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from high school, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience as a Court Operations Associate, Leadworker II or similar position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, information technology, court administration, public or business administration, behavioral science or a closely related area, and considerable experience in a trial court and/or training environment, or equivalent combination of directly related experience and education.

  • Ability to make work decisions in accordance with law, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a variety of comples records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside of the Judicial Branch.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinate employees engaged in a variety of court activities.
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
  • This position is located in the Pine County Courthouse at 635 Northridge Dr NW Pine City, MN 55063
  • Work is performed primarily in an office-setting, a public counter and/or in a courtroom.
  • The expected hiring range for internal hires for this position is $34.06 to $43.39/hr, based on qualifications, with a full future earning potential of $71,117- $110,079 annually.
  • This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Core business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Initial days off: Saturday, Sunday, and Court Designated Holidays.
