We are looking for a Customs Coordinator to support procurement and trade compliance activities for a metal fabrication operation in Jamestown, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position focuses on coordinating purchase order processes, assisting with international shipping documentation, and helping ensure imports and exports meet U.S. customs requirements. The role partners with internal teams and external brokers to improve accuracy, reduce risk, and identify opportunities for operational savings. This role would start in office for training in the Jamestown, NC location, and offer remote flexibility if you are not local.
Responsibilities:
โข Coordinate daily purchasing support activities, including preparing, updating, and tracking purchase orders to maintain material flow and supplier communication.
โข Review import and export paperwork for completeness and accuracy, helping ensure shipments meet applicable U.S. customs regulations and trade requirements.
โข Work with customs brokers and internal stakeholders to address filing issues, resolve documentation errors, and support timely shipment clearance.
โข Audit shipping and customs records on a routine basis to identify discrepancies, compliance concerns, and process improvement opportunities.
โข Maintain organized records related to purchasing transactions, trade compliance activities, drawback programs, and reconciliation requirements.
โข Compile reports on compliance results, shipment activity, and recurring issues, and communicate findings to relevant business partners.
โข Collaborate across purchasing, logistics, and related departments to support consistent adherence to company procedures and regulatory standards.
โข Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities tied to purchasing coordination, freight activity, and customs-related processes.
โข Follow established safety practices and maintain dependable attendance while supporting additional administrative or operational tasks as needed.
Tariff transactions, Auditing, Inventory Control, Logistics, International and Domestic shipping, Customs Certifications and Requirements, Compliance is a must
- Associate degree in Business, International Business, International Finance, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in purchasing support, logistics, trade compliance, or a similar non-leadership role.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. customs requirements and import/export documentation is required.
- Experience handling purchase orders, shipment records, and compliance-related documentation with a high level of accuracy,
- Tariff transactions, Auditing, Inventory Control, Logistics, International and Domestic shipping, Customs Certifications and Requirements, Compliance is a must
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal departments, suppliers, and customs brokers in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to identify errors, track trends, and maintain detailed records.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication for reporting issues, summarizing findings, and supporting cross-functional teams.
