What are remote motion graphics jobs?

Remote motion graphics jobs involve creating animated visuals, graphics, and effects for videos or digital media while working from a location outside a traditional office, often from home. Motion graphics artists use specialized software to design engaging animations for advertisements, films, television, web content, and more. The remote aspect allows professionals to collaborate with clients and teams online, offering flexibility in work environment and schedule. These roles typically require strong artistic skills, proficiency in motion graphics software, and the ability to communicate effectively with remote teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote motion graphics designer?

To thrive as a Remote Motion Graphics Designer, you need a solid background in graphic design, animation principles, and visual storytelling, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of work. Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Cinema 4D is typically required. Strong communication, creativity, and time management skills help remote designers collaborate effectively and meet deadlines. These abilities ensure the delivery of engaging visual content that meets client objectives, even while working independently.

How does working remotely as a motion graphics designer impact collaboration with creative teams and project managers?

As a remote Motion Graphics Designer, you will regularly collaborate with creative teams and project managers through digital communication tools like Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms. While you may not have in-person brainstorming sessions, sharing drafts, receiving feedback, and iterating on concepts is typically streamlined through cloud-based file sharing and scheduled virtual meetings. Maintaining clear communication and proactively asking for input helps overcome the challenge of distance, ensuring your creative vision aligns with the broader project goals. You'll often be expected to manage your own workflow, but frequent check-ins and collaborative reviews keep the team connected and productive.

Job description

About the Team:

The AlphaSense Brand Team is a creative powerhouse composed of great talent across copywriting, brand design, advertising & filmmaking. This team of creative technologists help drive the innovation, conceptual storytelling, execution & delivery of our brand and products each & every day. At our core, we're here as a partner to the broader business - which we do by identifying customer problems, understanding market needs, & inventing ways to deliver world class brand experiences.

About the Role:

As the Sr. Motion Designer on the AlphaSense Brand & Creative team, you will be the bridge between high-end cinematic motion and the future of AI-driven production. You aren't just an animator; you are a creative architect. You'll be responsible for defining & executing the visual language of our brand in motion-from product UI reveals to high-concept brand films-while simultaneously building the repeatable, AI-augmented workflows that allow our team to scale.

This role is equal parts "craft" and "innovation." You will spend your time in the timeline (After Effects, C4D) and in the laboratory (ComfyUI, RunWay, Midjourney), finding ways to marry traditional motion excellence with emerging generative tools. Your goal is to ensure AlphaSense doesn't just keep up with the pace of AI, but leads the industry in how it's applied to world-class brand storytelling.

Who You Are:
  • A Master of Motion: 8+ years of experience in motion graphics and animation, with a portfolio that shows a deep understanding of timing, physics, typography, and storytelling.
  • Product Animation Expert: Deep experience animating SaaS and complex UI systems - from feature reveals to full product narratives. You understand interaction design, states, transitions, and micro-interactions, and can make dense workflows feel intuitive, elegant, and alive.
  • Systems Thinker: You love the challenge of "how do we do this again, but faster?" You have experience building MOGRTs, scripts, or automated pipelines that empower other designers.
  • Technical Polyglot: You are an expert in After Effects and the Adobe Suite. Familiarity with 3D (C4D/Blender) and Houdini is a massive plus.
  • Product Design Fluency: Comfortable working in Figma and collaborating directly with Product Designers to translate complex UI into pixel-accurate marketing motion.
  • AI-Native: You don't just "know" AI exists; you are actively experimenting with tools like Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, Runway Gen-3, or Luma. You understand how to use AI for rotoscoping, texture generation, style transfer, or frame interpolation.
  • Strategic Maker: You can take a complex abstract concept-like "market intelligence"-and turn it into a visual metaphor that is both beautiful and easy to understand.
  • Adaptive & Scrappy: You thrive in the "grey area" of emerging tech. You are comfortable with tools that might change or break every week and enjoy the process of troubleshooting.
What You'll Do:
  • Design & Animate: Create high-fidelity motion graphics for brand campaigns, product launches, social channels, and executive keynotes.
  • Architect Workflows: Design and implement repeatable animation systems that leverage AI to reduce manual "grunt work" (e.g., automated versioning, AI-assisted cleanup, or generative backgrounds).
  • Define the Motion Identity: Partner with Brand Leads to evolve the AlphaSense motion guidelines, ensuring a consistent "look and feel" across all global touchpoints.
  • R&D & Evangelism: Stay on the bleeding edge of creative technology. Regularly demo new tools and techniques to the broader creative team to uplevel our collective output.
  • Collaborate across Functions: Work closely with Product Designers, pulling directly from Figma files to translate software UI into beautiful, "pixel-perfect" marketing animations.
  • Scale through Systems: Build a library of motion assets and templates that allow for rapid iteration without sacrificing quality.
  • Develop Deep Product & Market Fluency: Gain a thorough understanding of the AlphaSense platform, our customers, and the broader B2B enterprise landscape to ensure motion work reflects real product value, use cases, and buyer context - not just surface-level aesthetics.
