Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The Microsoft Solutions Architect provides senior consultative services and project scoping, implementation, and technical remediation work for Professional Services clients, and acts in a senior capacity within the Professional Services team. They are responsible for the following essential duties:
  • Designing, implementing, and remedying complex solutions across a broad range of technologies, with a particular focus on the full suite of Microsoft Modern Workplace, including Viva, SharePoint, EMS, and Power Platform.
  • Providing highly visible project work and consultation for Managed Solution's professional services clients, including thought leadership on client projects/environments, aligning solutions with complex business objectives and security, compliance, and availability needs.
  • Architects end-state solutions and migration/implementations plans for large-scale deployments/build-outs of technical environments, including on-prem, hybrid, and cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on Microsoft365 migrations.
  • Meeting with clients to identify technical requirements; designing solutions; presenting solutions in presales meetings with cross-level teams, including executives; and implementing project work, including occasional onsite deployment/migration work.
  • Providing architecture, consulting, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting, designing client environments for on-prem and hybrid-cloud infrastructure, as well as solutions to utilize Microsoft Modern Workplace suite.
  • Providing project work within Microsoft Modern Workplace suite (Viva, SharePoint, EMS, and Power Platform), including the creation and demonstration of proofs of concept, scripting, and other tasks related to workplace automation.
  • Leveraging subject matter expertise across at least one of the following specialization areas, in addition to Microsoft Modern Workplace:
  1. Cloud Migration (REQUIRED): Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for client hybrid and cloud infrastructure, including migration planning. Leverages migration tools (BitTitan, etc.) to successfully migrate client environments. Leverages experience planning and executing migrations in SMB and enterprise environments to successfully tailor a migration plan to the client's needs.
  2. Servers: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for client server infrastructure, including Windows Server (all versions) and virtualization environments on both Hyper-V and vSphere, in addition to Citrix XenApp and/or XenDesktop.
  3. Storage + Power: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for SAN and other storage solutions, as well as power needs (UPS, PDUs, etc.) for on premise solutions.
  4. Active Directory: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for Active Directory, including Group Policy, Access/Identity Management, Federation Services, Domain Controllers, etc. for medium to enterprise environments.
  5. Networking: Provides architecture, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for networking infrastructure, including: Routing, switching, firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, load balancers, etc. in medium to larger LAN/WAN environments, including cloud environments (Azure, Amazon AWS).
  6. Exchange/Messaging: Provides implementation, migration, and high-level troubleshooting services for Microsoft Exchange and messaging systems, including Office365.
  • Demonstrating commitment to continuous learning and development related to specialization areas, including the pursuit of certifications and the development and presentation of training for teammates for technologies within their specialization areas.
  • Acting as project lead for assigned projects, and as Architect escalation point for others. Directing others in completing project tasks according to project scopes; working with Project Managers or Sales to resolve potential/actual risks; and otherwise ensuring the successful delivery of services
  • Utilizing Microsoft Modern Workplace expertise to advance internal business processes.
  • Carrying out all work responsibilities and related duties, as assigned, while complying with all Company and client policies, including those related to security and confidentiality.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus a minimum of 10 years in an IT role, with 8+ years of relevant consultative or professional services experience at an MSP or other outsourced IT vendor. 5+ years of experience migrating/deploying cloud infrastructure (Azure, Office365) required. Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and skillsets will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated success as a consultant for Microsoft services in a variety of customer contexts, from SMB to large enterprise, including experience planning and implementing numerous successful M365/Office365/Azure deployments and migrations. Flexibility to consult and work in both SMB and enterprise environments is required for this role.
  • Demonstrated fluency with M365 architecture trends, technical conditions, and future direction.
  • Demonstrated success in a presales capacity, with the ability to elicit technical requirements and business objectives from clients and to confidently communicate technical information clearly with a diverse range of individuals, including C-suite executives and technical teams.
  • High levels of project ownership and individual accountability in a results-oriented environment

Technical Skills/Competencies:
  • Subject Matter Expertise related to hybrid and cloud environments (design, migrations, and remediation) and the Microsoft Modern Workplace suite, including:

  • Office365 administration and remediation;
  • SharePoint;

  • Proficiency with a range of migration tools such as ForensIT, Azure Migrate, BitTitan, Cloudiway, MoveriO, Sharegate, SPMT
  • Advanced proficiency with Exchange/Messaging is also required.
  • Microsoft certifications highly desired, and will be required for continued employment

In addition to Subject Matter Expertise in their specialty areas, the Microsoft Solutions Architect should have:
  • Proficiency in Windows Server (all versions) and workstation implementation, administration, and troubleshooting
  • Strong proficiency in Exchange (all versions/Online preferred), Hyper-V, Active Directory, and Powershell/VBS, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of Intune policy management, including implementation experience. AutoPilot roll-outs and Apple Business Manager knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory, Security and Identity Management, including Group Policy, Federation Services, Domain Controllers, etc. for medium to enterprise environments
  • Functional knowledge of Okta, Public Key Infrastructure, SQL Server, or Linux/Unix/RedHat a plus!
  • Strong proficiency with ability to provide consulting expertise and troubleshooting around each of the following areas:
  • Servers: Windows Server (all versions); virtualization environments; on premise infrastructure
  • Storage + Power: SAN and other storage solutions, as well as knowledge of power requirements/deployments of PDUs, UPS, etc.

Shift & Availability: Given the nature of IT, some project work will need to be delivered outside of standard business hours. An ability to work a flexible schedule for occasional after-hours/weekend migrations and other project responsibilities is required. Managed Solution is a 24x7/365 operation and is headquartered in the Pacific Time Zone. While some flexibility may be offered for employees in other time zones, employees will need to be available to coincide with Company and client needs/policies.
Remote/Onsite Requirements: Highly qualified applicants outside San Diego may be considered for remote positions, in a state where the Company has payroll operations. Such individuals may be required to travel on occasion to work sites or Managed Solution headquarters.
Background Check Requirements: Individuals in this role will be subject to a background screening and reference check process as part of pre-employment screening. Members of the Professional Services team may be subject to additional screenings from time to time, as required by clients/partner agreements. Such screenings may include drug testing. An individual's continued employment may be subject to the successful passing of such screenings.

Compensation & Benefits*
Base Salary Range: $140,000 to $175,000 per year
Managed Solution considers a range of factors when determining an appropriate wage. Such factors include but are not limited to: years of related experience, industry knowledge, formal education, relevant certifications, and geographic location. Wages are paid as earned and in accordance with Company policies.
