Role: Data Governance Analyst
Location: Remote
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Atlan Platform & Metadata Management
  • Support implementation and operational use of the Atlan data catalog
  • Curate and maintain
  • Business glossary terms
  • Technical metadata (tables, columns, schemas)
  • Ownership and stewardship assignments
  • Tags, classifications, and data domains
  • Assist with metadata ingestion, validation, and quality checks
  • Support lineage review and validation with technical teams
  • Ensure metadata aligns with governance standards and business context
 
Business Glossary & Standards
  • Assist with development and maintenance of the business glossary
  • Ensure definitions are clear, consistent, and business friendly
  • Help align business terms to technical assets in the catalog
  • Support review and approval workflows for glossary and metadata updates
 
Governance Process Enablement
  • Support the execution of data governance processes and standards
  • Assist with onboarding data domains and subject areas into Atlan
  • Help document governance procedures, guidelines, and best practices
  • Track governance activities and support issue intake and resolution
 
Data Governance & Domain Enablement
  • Partner with data owners and data stewards to onboard data domains into Atlan
  • Support domain-based governance models, including:
  • Domain classification
  • Ownership accountability
  • Domain scoped access considerations
  • Help define and document governance processes, standards, and operating procedures
  • Assist with stewardship workflows, approvals, and issue resolution
     
RBAC & Access Support
  • Support role-based access control (RBAC) implementation in Atlan
  • Assist in:
  • Defining base roles and permissions
  • Validating domain-based access models
  • Supporting access reviews and audits
  • Coordinate with security and platform administrators as needed
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
 
Act as a liaison between business, technical, and governance teams
  • Support governance working groups and implementation planning sessions
  • Identify opportunities to improve metadata quality, usability, and adoption
  • Track and report on governance and catalog adoption metrics
 
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5- 7 years of experience in:
  • Data governance
  • Data management
  • Metadata management
  • Analytics or data platform support
  • Experience working with a data catalog or governance platform (Atlan preferred; Collibra, Alation acceptable)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Business vs. technical metadata
  • Data domains and ownership models
  • Data governance concepts and best practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience supporting an Atlan implementation
  • Familiarity with:
  • Snowflake or cloud data platforms
  • BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Data quality concepts and tooling
  • Exposure to data quality, privacy, or compliance initiatives
  • Experience supporting enterprise data programs or platform implementations
  • Knowledge of data privacy, sensitivity classification, or compliance frameworks
