Role Summary
The Metadata/Data Quality Analyst is a mid-level position responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of metadata across enterprise data assets. Working within the Enterprise Data Governance team, this role supports data transparency, regulatory compliance, and analytics initiatives by effectively capturing, curating, and maintaining metadata. The analyst collaborates with data owners, engineers, and business partners to promote data discoverability, understanding, and governance throughout the data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Capture, document, and maintain business, technical, and operational metadata for enterprise data assets including datasets, reports, pipelines, and data products.
  • Populate and curate the enterprise data catalog to enhance data discoverability, understanding, and reuse.
  • Partner with data owners and stewards to define business terms, data definitions, lineage, and usage context.
  • Support the development and upkeep of the enterprise business glossary and metadata standards.
  • Document data lineage, data flows, and transformations across various systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate with data governance, data quality, architecture, and engineering teams to embed metadata into data delivery processes.
  • Assist in classifying data, applying sensitivity tags, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, privacy, and risk requirements.
  • Monitor the completeness and quality of metadata, identifying gaps and driving remediation efforts.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of metadata management processes, templates, and tooling adoption.
  • Provide guidance to data consumers on how to locate, interpret, and utilize governed data assets effectively.

Qualifications

  • 2โ€“5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, data analysis, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with data catalog tools or metadata repositories such as Collibra, Alation, DataHub, OpenMetadata, OvalEdge, or similar.
  • Familiarity with data concepts including data lineage, data quality, data modeling, and data lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to work with both technical teams (data engineering, architecture) and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and attention to detail skills.
  • Understanding of data regulatory, risk, and compliance considerations (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical data concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Bachelor''s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
  • Relevant certifications in data management or governance (e.g., DAMA CDMP, Collibra, Alation) are a plus but not mandatory.

Publishing Pay Range: $65.00 -ย $72.78 hourly

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
