Job description

Cedar Park Group is hiring an Outpatient Coding Auditor for a remote, short-term summer assignment supporting annual outpatient audits across ED, Same Day Surgery (SDS), and Observation.

Position Overview

As an Outpatient Coding Auditor, you will lead annual outpatient coding audits, including chart review, scoring, rebuttals, and executive-level reporting. You'll analyze trends and error patterns, present findings to leadership, and deliver group and 1:1 education sessions to strengthen coding accuracy and documentation quality across ED, SDS, and Observation services.

Responsibilities
  • Complete annual outpatient coding audits for ED, SDS, and Observation charts
  • Audit approximately 300 outpatient charts, averaging 4-6 charts per hour
  • Perform audit scoring, manage rebuttals, and deliver an executive summary of findings
  • Identify missed diagnosis queries and audit trends; translate findings into recommendations and education plans
  • Meet with leadership to communicate findings, trends, and recommendations
  • Lead formal education sessions (group and 1:1) based on audit results
  • Review charge entry sheets (e.g., medications, infusions/injections) in addition to diagnoses
  • Audit Observation workflows, including the 48-hour carve-out policy (built into Lynx)
  • Support SDS auditing (diagnosis and CPT coding review)
  • Utilize 3M CAC and validate/verify codes, specificity, and acuity
Required Qualifications
  • AHIMA or AAPC certification
  • Meditech EHR experience
  • Comfort meeting with leadership to communicate audit findings, trends, recommendations, and education plans
  • Experience creating and conducting formal education sessions (group and 1:1)
