Job Title: Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MLT)

Facility:
Ethel Lund Medical Center (SEARHC – Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium)

Department: Juneau Laboratory – Outpatient

Assignment Details:

  • Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Start Date: 06/08/2026 (Start may be delayed based on fingerprint processing)
  • Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Additional Coverage: Rotational weekends, holidays, and occasional later shifts
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
  • On-Call: Yes – $4/hr pager rate (callback: 2-hour minimum, +$10 rate)

Pay Rate:

  • Overtime: After 40 hours/week at +$10/hour
  • Holiday Rate: +$10/hour

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to provide comprehensive laboratory testing and diagnostic services in a hospital-based lab. This role requires strong technical expertise, independent judgment, and the ability to perform high-complexity testing across diverse patient populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and analyze laboratory tests, including CLIA high-complexity testing
  • Evaluate and interpret test results ensuring accuracy and reliability
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies and resolve technical issues
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Ensure quality control standards and regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission)
  • Assist with procedure development, updates, and documentation
  • Train staff and support competency evaluations
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and provide lab-related guidance
  • Maintain inventory and ensure adequate supply levels

Requirements:

  • ASCP or AMT certification (REQUIRED at submission)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical or internship experience preferred
  • Experience with high-complexity testing
  • Familiarity with Meditech EMR (preferred)
  • Flu vaccine required

  • Start date will be no less than 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received
  • Candidates must complete fingerprinting immediately upon acceptance to avoid delays
