ServiceNow Technical Consultant - ITOM Location: Remote Type: Multiyear Contract Hourly Pay Rate: $60/hr. range, W2. Benefits available Requirements: US Citizenship required for federal government project System One IT has multiple long-term contract openings for ServiceNow Technical Consultants with strong ITOM experience, particularly in Discovery and CMDB integrations. The candidate should be comfortable developing in ServiceNow and intimately familiar with ServiceNow's CMDB and Discovery products. The work supports a federal government program – US citizenship required. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation. Successful candidates will have a strong background in IT Service Management processes and solutions and possess deep expertise in ServiceNow CMDB and Service Mapping. Technical Consultant must have deep experience in configuration and development with ServiceNow CMDB and Service Mapping, as both implementation work and oversight of team members are required. Responsibilities:

  • Assess current state processes and tools, defining solution requirements including integrations, architecture, and implementation plans.
  • Design, develop, and implement ServiceNow solutions—including custom applications, workflows, forms, UI policies, business rules, and integrations—ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Configure and maintain ServiceNow CMDB and ITOM applications following best practices for maintainability and performance. Model network, storage, and other infrastructure within the CMDB.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and Business Analysts to translate business needs into technical specifications and lead technical workshops to review design, architecture, and configuration approaches.
  • Support end-to-end project delivery including sprint planning, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system optimization.
  • Develop and support integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., Azure AD, HR, ERP, monitoring tools) using REST, SOAP, APIs, and IntegrationHub, ensuring secure data exchange.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance by guiding junior developers or project teams, participating in code reviews, maintaining version control, ensuring security/privacy compliance, and contributing to technical documentation. Support engagement of stakeholders to identify, document, and prioritize business requirements for ServiceNow implementations, translating needs into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct workshops, demonstrations, interviews, and process mapping sessions to capture current and future workflows, supporting process design and documentation
Required Skills:
  • ServiceNow Mainline Certifications in Discovery and Data Foundation
  • Expertise in at least three full lifecycle ServiceNow implementations
  • 5+ years of experience with ServiceNow with a strong focus on event management, monitoring, and integrations
  • Deep expertise in cloud deployment and standardization and consulting on implementation with large enterprises.
  • Deep experience modeling network, storage, and compute infrastructure
  • Understanding of application and infrastructure architectures as they apply to monitoring, including cloud, networking, compute platforms, containers, and application services.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing ITSM/ITIL® and CMDB processes and solutions
  • 8+ years of professional services/consulting experience
  • 3+ years of experience documenting tool requirements from To-Be processes and assisting the IT organization in comparing various vendor tool products
  • Demonstrable experience with ServiceNow JavaScript and glide queries
  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with practice establishing and maintaining credibility as a ServiceNow expert
