Due to client requirements, only U.S. Citizens are eligible for this opportunity.

  • Location: 100% Remote
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours
  • Contract Duration: Approximately 12 months
  • Potential Conversion: Contract-to-hire/conversion may be possible
  • Assessment: Candidates must complete the SCRUM MASTER Glider Assessment (Highmark-56513123)
Job Overview

The Scrum Master will serve as a servant leader and Agile coach, helping delivery teams provide the highest possible business value efficiently and effectively.

This individual will coach and advise Scrum teams and leadership on Agile/Scrum practices, processes, values, and interactions while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. The Scrum Master will help teams become increasingly self-organizing, cross-functional, and accountable while maintaining focus on Sprint goals and removing obstacles that could impact delivery.

The ideal candidate has experience leading Agile delivery teams supporting healthcare data, technology, and integration initiatives and can effectively coordinate across business, engineering, architecture, QA, and external vendor teams.

The manager is particularly interested in someone with leadership potential, emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to be coached and develop quickly into a stronger Agile leader.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Agile coaching and training to Scrum teams and leadership to improve adoption of Agile/Scrum practices and behaviors.
  • Foster a culture of self-organizing, cross-functional, accountable, and continuously improving teams.
  • Schedule and facilitate Scrum ceremonies including:
    • Sprint Planning
    • Daily Scrum/Stand-Ups
    • Sprint Reviews
    • Retrospectives
  • Support backlog management and help teams prioritize work according to business value, Sprint goals, and available capacity.
  • Track dependencies across teams and coordinate activities necessary to maintain delivery schedules.
  • Identify, communicate, resolve, and escalate impediments, risks, and delivery issues.
  • Protect teams from non-critical unplanned work that may interfere with achievement of Sprint commitments.
  • Support release planning and coordinate delivery activities across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Utilize appropriate Agile tools, metrics, and techniques to monitor team progress against Sprint plans.
  • Facilitate team and leadership retrospectives and drive implementation of continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery activities involving business stakeholders, engineering, architecture, QA, and vendor partners.
  • Help stakeholders outside the Scrum team understand how to effectively interact with Agile delivery teams.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution, problem solving, and effective decision making.
  • Motivate, encourage, and empower team members while maintaining accountability for delivery commitments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Management, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of overall IS/IT experience.
  • 3–5+ years of professional Scrum Master experience required.
  • Strong experience working within an Agile development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and supporting Agile delivery teams.
  • Experience with:
    • Backlog management
    • Dependency tracking
    • Stakeholder coordination
    • Risk and issue management
    • Release planning
    • Impediment removal
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile principles and methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and XP.
  • Strong training, coaching, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong conflict-management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across technical, business, and leadership teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and dependencies.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, self-awareness, empathy, and ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of healthcare industry experience, particularly supporting healthcare data or integration initiatives.
  • Scrum Master certification such as:
    • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
    • Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I)
    • Comparable recognized Agile/Scrum certification
  • Experience coordinating Agile delivery across business, engineering, architecture, QA, and vendor teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The client is seeking a Scrum Master who falls between the associate and mid-level range but demonstrates the potential to quickly develop into a stronger Agile leader.

Successful candidates will be outgoing, collaborative, coachable, and comfortable building relationships across both individual contributors and leadership teams. They should be capable of motivating and empowering others while maintaining focus on accountability, delivery, and continuous improvement.

Candidates possessing Scrum certifications are strongly preferred, and certification credentials may be verified during the screening process.
