Position Summary
As the Marketing Analyst you'll act as a partner within the Marketing Analytics team delivering knowledge of marketing activity performance. Responsibilities will include reporting on performance, supporting the creation of actional insights and enabling analytics self-service for the marketing team. This position requires a strong quantitative background to develop dynamic reports and dashboards that will serve as the backbone for marketing enabling data-driven decision across the team. Additionally, this role supports advanced analytics functions such as developing nuanced forecasts with multiple data inputs. The ideal candidate is a data-driven analyst with a variety of analytic skills including data visualization, experience working with multiple data sources, and marketing data and concepts.
Essential Functions:
  • Consultative skills: work with marketing team to translate marketing data needs into reports and self-service marketing tools.
  • Create data insights: create graphs, reports, and dashboards to increase understanding of performance across marketing and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy and availability: Responsible for the data integrity of reports and dashboards ensuring that reported data is accurate. Corroborates data integrity of website and digital media channel data.
  • Develop expertise in data sources: work with internal marketing with cross-functional data partners to ensure that data required is available to use in creating reports and dashboards.
  • Develop expertise in university business processes: cultivate a deep understanding of marketing and enrollment processes, statuses, and prospective student cycle and the supporting data across these to support report and insight creation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Math or related field, preferred;
  • 2+ years' relevant experience in marketing analytics or data science role, data management or analytics.
  • Experience within the higher-education industry, a plus.

Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Data mining, Excel skills and other technical capabilities including experience with analytics tools and systems such as Excel, R, SQL, SAS, and business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Tableau, Cognos, Birst, DOMO, Microsoft Power BI.
  • Quantitative data experience and exposure to using analytics code to extract data, create dashboards and reports.
  • Strong analytics knowledge base: Familiarity using data warehousing tools and data science environments and integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Understanding of marketing analytics, marketing frameworks and concepts, and analytic needs of marketing team across multiple responsibility levels.
  • Proven capabilities utilizing data to create insight.
  • Ability to participate as an active team member of the team and organization and work toward a common goal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Work independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team of diverse cultures, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and frequently changing priorities.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and ability to learn new systems as necessary to succeed with results.
