Job description

Engineering Industries eXcellence are seeking a self-driven MES Solution Architect (100% remote/WFH) experienced in Opcenter and Camstar MES systems to complement our growing MES/MOM Practice!

As an MES Solution Architect, you will act as part of a Services team, work productively with Consultants, Engineers and Project Managers, and other internal & external interfaces to ensure that the customer succeeds in their objectives. As an Architect resource, responsible for the translation of business requirements into specific process aligned designs for the Engineering of a Software solution based on multi product/multi-industry domain knowledge and best practices in the subject area, applied to complex enterprise projects, in order for Engineering Industries eXcellence to deliver market leading solutions and provide value to the customer.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for proof of concepts and demonstration/prototypes

  • Work with Pre-Sales and Account Managers on opportunities within the country, engage early in the process with internal or external customer stakeholders to support the analysis of the customer's business goals, objectives and needs, the general business environment and how the initiative will impact or integrate with other initiatives (i.e. Supply chain, lean manufacturing, etc.)

  • Provide input into, and generate documentation, to support rough order of magnitude (ROM) and Statement of work (SOW) creation

  • Establish, build and maintain effective relationships with internal or external customers technical peers and build new relationships through networking within the customer and other involved parties to support effective delivery

  • Set and manage stakeholders' expectations, demonstrating thought leadership to effectively influence key contacts and recommend solutions. In conjunction with the senior project leadership and account team, apply stakeholder management methods to support successful adoption of a viable solution

  • Provide information and feedback to internal or external customers in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner, as required by defined project activities, ensuring that key messages are communicated effectively

Project Delivery:

  • Understand the context of the customer project, its contract type, key deliverables and the engagement model

  • Where required, lead the application of Solution Definition, Systems Architecture, and Solution Enablement elements Engineering Deployment Framework on project

  • Understand the purpose of the project, its work breakdown and its relationship to the overall internal or external customers solution

  • Where required, contribute to estimate time frames, work package breakdown, capability definitions and quantity of resources estimates required to successfully implement the project

  • Provide accurate and timely information to project management team as required

  • Contribute to the generation of relevant level of project support documentation in line with Engineering or customer Project Management Methodology as required

  • Contribute to quality and phase gate reviews as required

  • Where required, contribute to the review of technical implementation experiences with project delivery team, capturing and sharing lessons learnt as part of the project review and close activities

  • Effectively apply project change management rules to the project, where required

  • Develop, motivate, and direct staff to create a team environment

  • Work closely with project management to ensure architectural alignment with project goals and requirements and ensure deliveries progress alignment with plans

  • Collaborate with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits

  • Keep service managers aware of key customer issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts

Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of MES Camstar and Opcenter SYSTEMS

  • MES interface with 3rd party systems like automation systems (e.g. DeltaV, Siemens PCS7, Siemens SIMATIC Batch, Rockwell PLCs/SCADA)

  • Programming languages (C#, Java, C++, VBA/VBScript, Python)

  • Knowledge of software release management on multiple environments (e.g. DEV, QA, PROD) including but not limited to handling of pool requests, merge operations, solution building, deployment, unit testing, regression testing

  • Experience with Team Foundation Server and/or Jira is strongly recommended

  • Good knowledge of business standards, compliance & ethics approaches, understanding their drivers and challenges, delivering basic tasks professionally, and ensuring professional behavior of others

  • Builds positive and productive relationships required to effectively deliver a standard project

  • Actively participates in providing practices, feedback and lessons learnt to support continual improvement

  • Demonstrates ability to resist pressures to take shortcuts or compromise compliance or ethics in order to deliver business results.

  • Understand and demonstrate how Engineering Industries eXcellence services will impact and integrate with customers' initiatives, business drivers, value and impact.

  • Set and manage stakeholders' expectations, demonstrating thought leadership to effectively influence key contacts and recommend solutions

  • Demonstrates a thorough professional know-how in Technical Consulting, based on practical, demonstrable experience including a thorough understanding of Technical Consulting practices and standards

  • Contributes to process improvement for Technical Consulting, providing feedback on the use of processes, systems and tools in real world situations

  • Focuses on mentoring others to improve Technical Consulting delivery across the business, proactively sharing knowledge to transfer expertise

  • Work under self-management to determine solutions, methods and procedures on enterprise assignments/projects of highest complexity and diverse scope that require specialist architectural expertise and leadership

  • This position requires work authorization in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

Recommended Qualifications

Experience:

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering and/or manufacturing processes for design and development of solutions

  • 10 years of experience working in a customer facing environment

  • Technical Leadership skills and proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledgeable of and understands common software development principles and life-cycle

  • Experience with and ability to undertake programming and standard testing tasks in multiple programming language

  • Experience with multiple solution domain and multiple industry sectors of applications

  • Expert knowledge of infrastructure and database systems with the ability to undertake key activities

  • Understands advanced processes within the software, and how to move between the systems

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex issues to multi-level audiences throughout the company

  • Ability to effectively communicate progress, status and issues to internal and external customers

  • Ability to obtain and meet Business goals and results

  • Ability to promote complex solutions and drive acceptance with confidence

  • Ability to lead project work streams in more than one specialist product domain

  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team

  • Must be focused on directing others in accountability, collaboration, effective communication, and have a strategic mindset that develops talent. All of these talents which ultimately drive results

  • Proficient with Standard MS Office applications, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

  • Expert understanding of Change Management

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% during customer facing activities like analysis and commissioning.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology or equivalent years of experience (10 +)
