  • Liaise with parent company Valnet’s operations team regarding progress and challenges
  • Maintain editorial vision while striving to achieve business goals
  • Work with site leads to implement a plan for sustained growth
  • Continuously audit the site to identify areas to capitalize on, or those that need improvement
  • Propose and implement effective solutions for achieving the ambitious site output, traffic and revenue targets
  • Content planning:

  • Source and identify potential editor candidates

Oversee and manage writers and editors on the site

  • Ensure team is maintaining output targets and quality expectations; hold team accountable for missed opportunities
  • Build an effective team of quality editors with technical skills and industry knowledge
  • Provide feedback and ensure editors are adhering to MW's publication standards, and are contributing/editing the necessary amounts
  • Make the MW team a positive, engaging space for entertainment enthusiasts who want to contribute actively and grow with the team
  • Manage MovieWeb’s PR & branding efforts
  • Build and help maintain relationships with key industry partners
  • Establish trusted hosts/field reporters for delegating
  • Establish content plans around events and track content bundles for each
  • Share wins and coverage to partners
  • Ensure event coverage is shared on MW’s Events page, social channels, and LinkedIn

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in senior editing roles (managing editor, deputy editor, editor-in-chief) of a digital publication specializing in film, television and/or related content
  • Passion and background in all things Movies and TV
  • Familiarity with best practices for SEO writing, and knowledge producing content for various web traffic sources
  • Experience with writer management
  • Proven track record of growing a team, expanding coverage, and driving traffic
  • Experience using Google products including Sheets, Search Console, and Analytics
  • Strong sense of judgment and decision making capabilities while taking budgetary considerations into account
  • The news cycle doesn't stop - the nature of this role requires availability outside of a "normal 9-5"
