The Permitting Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the permitting department, serving as a technical lead and mentor to the permitting team. This role ensures project compliance, regulatory adherence, and operational efficiency by overseeing the tracking of critical project permitting, regulatory approvals, and related documentation. The Permitting Supervisor combines deep subject matter expertise with leadership skills to streamline permitting workflows, develop team talent, and keep overall project success and continuous project flow at the forefront.

What you'll do
  • Manage, train, and mentor permitting staff. Provide direction and feedback to ensure team performance and adherence to company policies.
  • Oversee the application, attainment, and tracking of all projects permits in a timely manner. Ensure all regulatory approvals are documented correctly to facilitate continuous project flow.
  • Participate in continuous training and contribute to developing best practices for permitting workflow, regulatory compliance, and project execution. Design and implement process controls and accountability measures.
  • Monitor permit progress and status against deliverables. Analyze and communicate permit scheduling delays, reporting to project leaders as appropriate.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex permitting issues. Collect and review high-level permit documentation, ensuring accuracy before submission to appropriate personnel or stakeholders.
  • Allocate permitting workloads efficiently to ensure deadlines are met in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Collaborate with other Supervisors and departments (e.g., Construction, Safety, Engineering) to ensure permits are in place prior to site mobilization.
  • Promote job safety and ensure all safety initiatives are implemented within the team. Maintain thorough knowledge of and ability to implement company quality and DOT standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need
  • Associate degree in an industry-related field, or a minimum of 4 years of telecommunications project administration/permitting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in permit management and navigating complex regulatory environments is required.
  • Previous supervisory or foreman experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient use of computer hardware and software, including database software, Internet software, and spreadsheets. Google application experience is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record is required. CDL license is preferred.

  • Light to moderate lifting (up to 30 lbs).
  • Moderate noise consistent with office environments (computers, phones, printers).

The wage range for Permitting Supervisor is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00
