Meet the team:
We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Analyst and Planner to join our medical device manufacturing organization in a fully remote capacity. This role is pivotal in assisting the Team in designing, maintaining, and optimizing IT infrastructure to support manufacturing, applications, R&D, information security, regulatory compliance, and other business areas in a highly regulated industry.

The successful candidate will leverage expertise in planning & organizing, financial analysis, vendor management, and IT risk management to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective systems that align with business objectives and industry standards.
Infrastructure Planning
  • Coordinate, develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud solutions, and data storage, to support all Business areas.
  • Ensure employee capacity planning is maintained to identify bottlenecks and recruitment requirements.
  • Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, applications, R&D, information security, regulatory) to align infrastructure with business demands and medical device lifecycle needs.

Financial Analysis
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for infrastructure projects, including capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx).
  • Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts for IT infrastructure investments, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
  • Monitor and report on ROI for infrastructure initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Evaluate technology decisions and vendor quotes for integration into manufacturing processes.

Operating Mechanisms
  • Lead Meetings, Strategic Workshops and Planning Sessions: Facilitate virtual workshops with cross-functional teams to align IT infrastructure strategies with manufacturing, R&D, and regulatory goals, ensuring proactive identification of infrastructure needs and opportunities.
  • Develop and Monitor KPIs: Establish, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for IT infrastructure performance, such as system uptime, cost efficiency, and compliance metrics, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Coordinate regular review sessions to assess infrastructure performance, identify process bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

Vendor Analysis and Management
  • Assess and select third-party vendors for hardware, software, and managed services, evaluating technical capabilities, reliability, and compliance with medical device regulations.
  • Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) remotely to ensure cost-effectiveness and performance standards.
  • Monitor vendor performance, conduct periodic reviews, and mitigate risks associated with vendor dependencies.

IT Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize IT risks, including cybersecurity threats, data integrity issues, and system downtime, with a focus on protecting sensitive patient and product data.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant regulations.
  • Lead system reliability and business continuity planning, conducting regular testing to ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.

Project Management and Execution
  • Oversee the implementation of infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new deployments, ensuring timelines and budgets are met through remote coordination.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners via virtual tools to deliver projects that enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure IT Infrastructure systems meet compliance requirements by coordinating activities and deadlines
  • Maintain detailed documentation for audits, including risk assessments, vendor evaluations, and financial justifications, submitted electronically.

What makes you successful:
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure planning, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or regulated industry (medical device experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record in financial analysis, vendor management, and IT risk management.

Technical Skills
  • High level knowledge of IT infrastructure components (e.g., virtualization, cloud platforms like AWS/Azure, networking, storage solutions).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP (e.g., Oracle EBS).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and system reliability planning.

Specialized Skills
  • Planning & organizing: IT Infrastructure deliverables
  • Financial acumen: Ability to perform cost modeling, budgeting, and ROI analysis for IT investments.
  • Vendor management: Experience negotiating contracts and evaluating vendor performance in a technical context.
  • Risk management: Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies, particularly in regulated environments.

Certifications (Preferred)
  • Scrum/Agile or PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent.
  • ITIL Foundation or higher.

Soft Skills

Experience and Education Requirements:
