Job description

The Epic Beaker Clinical Applications Analyst Ill plays a vital role in advancing Moffitt's mission to prevent and cure cancer by leading the design, implementation, and optimization of clinical and enterprise applications that directly support patient care, research, and operational excellence. This senior-level role drives technical solutions and strategic initiatives, manages complex project responsibilities, and mentors junior analysts. By ensuring reliable, secure, and innovative technology solutions, the Analyst Ill helps empower clinicians, researchers, and staff to deliver world-class cancer care and discovery.

Job Responsibilities:

The Clinical Applications Analyst III will work within the Epic Beaker environment to:

  • Plan, design, develop, validate, test, implement, evaluate, maintain, and provide on-going trouble-shooting and support comprehensive information system components to meet needs and business requirements.
  • Perform quality assurance and integrated testing of current and newly released vendor functionality to ensure system reliability.
  • Monitor system performance.
  • Coordinate projects across applications and develops application-specific enhancements and reports in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Develops and maintains system documentation for build specifications.
  • Mentor and guide junior Analyst team members on technical tasks and processes.
  • Provide 24/7 support for information systems within accountability and/or enterprise-wide applications.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree* in Business, IS, Healthcare, or related field of study is required.

*An Associate's degree plus (two) 2 additional years of experience (for a total of 8 years) may be considered, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Licensing/Certification: Current Epic certification in Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) required. Beaker Anatomic Pathology (AP), Bridges, and Instrumentation Integration certifications are strongly preferred. Data Courier (badge) is preferred.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • 6 years of applicable system build experience with a high-level enterprise-wide impact, including within the Epic environment is required.
  • Focus on experience with laboratory information systems/applications

Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required

  • Proven leadership and project management experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of enterprise applications.
  • Experience in project management and team leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Experience with workflow analysis or development of application solutions preferred.
  • Experience in Epic applications, other electronic health record applications, and/or healthcare operations background (e.g., clinical, billing, scheduling, access services, health information management, etc.) preferred.
  • Must hold EPIC certification in designated application area(s): Beaker Clinical Pathology (laboratory module); Beaker AP preferred
  • Knowledge of clinical, business, and/or operational healthcare hospital/clinic workflows preferred.
  • Ability to handle complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and documentation skills.
  • Experience building, testing, and optimizing workflows in Epic Beaker laboratory modules
  • Experience with healthcare information systems including application and data layer management preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to remote sites as applicable

Preferred Skills/Specialized Training:

  • Prior experience as an application analyst on Epic system implementation/migration projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management and presentation skills preferred.
  • Professional level certification from an accredited organization in relevant informatics, health information technology, clinical or business specialties preferred.
  • Experience with PACS systems preferred.
  • Laboratory Information Systems experience preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare information systems including application and data layer management preferred.
  • Experience with systems provisioning/security and active directory structures preferred.
  • Experience with integration platforms including middleware and application interfaces, including laboratory equipment integration preferred.
  • Experience working with project life cycle and project management methodologies preferred.
  • Radiation oncology experience preferred.

Note: Travel to our Tampa, Florida location will be required based on project/business needs, approximately once a month.
