Job description

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. We are highly focused and, among other efforts, currently operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy. Our 33-year heritage is founded on supporting complex and diverse DoD programs and we've developed a standout reputation for providing the highest quality services, superior workmanship and cost-effective results while achieving complete customer satisfaction.
At Eglin Air Force Base, SA-TECH provides Range support services including Marine Operations O&M, O&M and engineering support for all remote-controlled Foreign Military Equipment (FME) land targets and sea targets, as well as O&M for Electronic Warfare (EW) systems and associated range instrumentation systems. We also provide Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) as well as management oversight, design, integration, installation and pre- and post-test operations. SA-TECH conducts concurrent land operations on Eglin Test and Training Range and seaborne operations in the Eglin Gulf Test and Training Range (EGTTR), plus deployed training missions outside of ECTTR along the Texas coastline and in the Key West, FL vicinity, keeping EW, communication and instrumentation systems, and land and marine targets and support vessels operational to meet a demanding mission operations tempo.
We are currently seeking to hire an Electronics Technician, Maintenance II at our Eglin AFB location to join our Remote-Control Targets (RCTS) team to, among other duties:
  • Assist in the design, construction, installation, inspection, maintenance, repair and operation of remote control systems installed in a wide variety of marine watercraft, military tracked, wheeled and civilian vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot electronic circuits to the circuit card-level (without assistance) and to the component-level (with assistance from more highly qualified technicians).
  • Receive assignments from Section Supervisor and perform work under the supervision of more highly qualified employees.
  • Exercise considerable personal initiative and be able to work independently (or on teams) with little general supervision.
  • Utilize custom application software in conjunction with our range communications infrastructure for Global Positioning System (GPS) control of remote-control vehicles as well as collection and analysis of GPS/TSPI mission data.
  • Perform pre-mission checkouts as well as verification of control signal and telemetry transmission and reception from deployed locations in the Gulf of Mexico range.

Work Conditions:
  • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Outdoor duties may be performed in high humidity, and on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Job demands will require physical dexterity and flexibility.
  • Must be physically able to sit, stand, kneel and climb.
  • Must be willing and able to wear company provided personal protective equipment; such as hearing protectors, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
  • Must comply with all applicable USAF and SA-TECH safety rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Changing work locations, shift changes, and overtime may be required at times to support operations.
  • May be required to deploy to the Gulf of Mexico (or other bodies of water) in support of remote-controlled watercraft operations.
  • May be periodically required to perform temporary duties at deployed locations for up to 30 days.

Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Associates degree in electronics field or certificate of completion from an accredited Technical school, or equivalent military technical training, and minimum three years' experience in the listed duties required.
  • A good working knowledge of troubleshooting, repair, alignment, and operation concepts for complex electronic equipment is desirable.
  • Must have an understanding of computer-controlled instrumentation, as well as analog and digital interface equipment.
  • Possess a good operational knowledge of various types of test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, and frequency counters.
  • Knowledge of RF components and ground based radar subsystems, including transmitters, receivers, and servo systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience as an Electronics Technician in at least three of the following disciplines: servo control systems, pneumatic and electrical actuator control systems, RF receiver/transmitter principles, global positioning time/space positioning indicating (TSPI) systems, video systems and/or data link/microwave communication systems.
  • Must be willing and able to wear company-provided personal protective equipment such as hearing protectors, safety glasses, gloves, etc. when required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical to include: Drug Screen, Vision & Hearing tests, Medical Condition Certification and Back X-rays.
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
