Job description

Infrastructure Engineer III

About the Role 

The Infrastructure Engineer III is responsible for the strategy, design, development, implementation, and management of secure digital fax services across the enterprise. This senior-level engineering role applies advanced technical expertise to architect, support, and optimize fax and telephony infrastructure while ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and compliance. The position serves as a key technical leader for enterprise fax platforms, telephony integrations, and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities 

Infrastructure Management 

  • Manage and support core infrastructure components, including: Windows Server, Internet Information Services (IIS), Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, VMware virtualization
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support new system deployments, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and operational resilience

Active Directory & Azure Security

  • Administer and maintain Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) environments.
  • Manage: User and group administration, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Delegated access controls, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Authentication and identity services, Conditional Access policies
  • Support security and compliance initiatives through: Account lifecycle management, Privileged access administration, Security auditing and reporting, Compliance adherence, Identity and directory vulnerability remediation

Hardware & Connectivity

  • Administer and support Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and related telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Maintain secure and reliable connectivity between enterprise fax platforms and telephony services.

Project & Task Management

  • Prioritize and manage task-based assignments according to business impact and criticality.
  • Participate in Agile activities including: Daily stand-ups, Sprint planning, Backlog grooming, Retrospectives
  • Deliver projects and operational initiatives within established timelines.

Consultation & Mentorship

  • Serve as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert for fax, telephony, and supporting infrastructure technologies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and less-experienced team members.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build consensus and influence technical direction across teams.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality, operational efficiency, security, and system reliability

Telephony Integration

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise fax solutions integrated with SIP Trunking services.
  • Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot voice media protocols including G.711 and T.38 to support reliable, high-availability fax communications.
  • Ensure adherence to North American telephony standards and best practices.

Engineering & Strategy

  • Lead the architecture, deployment, administration, and ongoing operation of RightFax and XM Fax platforms.
  • Evaluate and execute complex engineering initiatives while recommending technical solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Conduct technical research and provide strategic guidance to support secure digital communication and innovation efforts.

Expertise

  • Demonstrates deep conceptual and practical expertise in enterprise fax systems and telephony infrastructure.
  • Possesses broad knowledge of related IT disciplines and their integration with communication services.

Problem Solving

  • Solve complex technical challenges by applying innovative thinking and advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound technical judgment.

  • Systems & Infrastructure: Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, VMware

Identity & Security

  • Experience administering and securing: Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), 
  • Expertise in: Group Policy management, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Privileged account management, User provisioning and deprovisioning, Conditional Access policies, Security auditing and compliance, Identity security best practices

Fax Platforms

  • RightFax
  • XM Fax

Voice & Telecommunications

  • Expert knowledge of: SIP Trunking, G.711, T.38, Session Border Controllers (SBCs)

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Relevant professional experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, telephony, fax platforms, and identity management solutions.

  • Demonstrated expertise in complex infrastructure engineering and enterprise-scale systems administration.

In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. In addition, Conduent provides a variety of benefits to employees including health insurance coverage, voluntary dental and vision programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) or vacation and/or sick time. The estimated salary range for this role is $85,470 - $111,000.
