The Director leads a high-performing IT team, oversees technology operations, manages vendor relationships, and drives adoption of centralized IT solutions across departments. This role is embedded across the organization, influencing processes and initiatives to ensure technology enables, rather than hinders, organizational goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT (Remote):

This position is fully remote with hybrid options in the Bethesda, MD Headquarters.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with business units to support change management, process improvements, and strategic transformation.
  • Build a culture of trust, transparency, and customer-service focus within the IT function.
  • Report on IT initiatives and outcomes to leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Leverage appropriate technical tools and knowledge-sharing practices to support cross-departmental training and business continuity.
  • Establish and maintain IT governance, policies, and standards, ensuring scalability and operational excellence.

Technology Operations and Infrastructure

  • Oversee and support staff and vendors responsible for operational support of technology tools and processes, including key platforms such as AMS, Salesforce, productivity, and collaboration tools.
  • Plan, lead, and execute critical technical initiatives, including system downgrades, cloud migration, platform optimizations, and ongoing product implementations and evolutions.
  • Serve as a technology expert, providing insight and best practices across the organization for current and future initiatives.
  • Maintain and adapt system and platform documentation to support operational continuity, transparency, and knowledge retention.
  • Ensure users across the organization have appropriate, timely support and advisory services by overseeing help desk operations, defining service standards, and ensuring accountability for resolution and user satisfaction.
  • Maintain oversight of a comprehensive security framework, including monitoring, reporting, regulatory compliance, and incident response planning and execution.
  • Oversee the seamless operation and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring security, reliability, and compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure technology services align with strategic objectives and deliver value.
  • Design and implement a robust cybersecurity framework to protect AOTA from evolving threats and proactively reduce risk.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Define service standards, escalation paths, and performance metrics for the IT team.
  • Champion a customer-service mindset within the IT function and instill accountability and ownership among team members.

Project and Financial Management

  • Lead the formulation, planning, and execution of all IS/IT projects, including defining project objectives, system requirements, scope, timelines, and resource needs to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Provide planning consultation and advisory services to departments on system development initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, integrated, and aligned with the IT roadmap.
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of technology projects through disciplined project management, change management, and cross-departmental adoption.
  • Develop and manage the IT operating budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to drive organizational priorities.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan to ensure protection of critical data and continuity of operations during emergencies.
  • Proactively safeguard AOTAโ€™s data assets through risk management, compliance initiatives, and continuous monitoring.
