These roles can include tasks such as technical support, network maintenance, software troubleshooting, or assisting with IT projects. Part time IT positions are often ideal for students, individuals seeking work-life balance, or those looking to gain experience in the technology sector. Many organizations offer part time IT roles to help manage workloads or provide support during peak hours.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time IT professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time IT professionals often face challenges such as limited time to complete projects, staying updated with rapidly changing technologies, and integrating effectively with full-time teams. To address these, it's important to prioritize tasks, maintain open communication with colleagues, and leverage project management tools for efficient collaboration. The IT Associate will assist with maintaining and troubleshooting computers, networking equipment, digital signage, event technology, audiovisual systems, and other technology used throughout the venue. Because Capital One Hall operates around performances, private events, and corporate functions, this position will occasionally require evening, weekend, and event-based availability.
Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot computers, printers, phones, network connectivity, Wi-Fi, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist with setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of technology used during events.
  • Support digital signage, lobby displays, LED banners, and other venue technology.
  • Assist with maintaining IT equipment, inventory, cables, peripherals, and other technology assets.
  • Perform basic user account, workstation, and software support.
  • Assist with network troubleshooting and escalate more complex network issues to the IT Manager.
  • Support event-related technology requests and provide on-site assistance when needed.
  • Help monitor technology systems throughout the building and report issues promptly.
  • Assist with equipment installations, replacements, updates, and preventative maintenance.
  • Document technical issues, solutions, and equipment changes.
  • Assist with IT projects and other technology-related tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented attitude when working with employees, clients, vendors, and guests.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; IT-related education or experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Windows computers, networking, Wi-Fi, printers, and common business applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and knowing when to escalate an issue.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy event environment and prioritize multiple requests.
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment and work in various areas of the venue.
  • Previous help desk, desktop support, event technology, or hospitality technology experience is a plus.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications are a plus but not required.

Schedule
This is a part-time position with a flexible, event-driven schedule. Hours may vary based on venue operations and event schedules. Availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays may be required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys technology but also enjoys working with people. They should be comfortable troubleshooting problems on the fly, working in a live event environment, and taking ownership of issues from start to finish.
This is a great opportunity for a college student, recent IT graduate, aspiring IT professional, or someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional venue environment.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $25-$30/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Equal Opportunity
Capital One Hall is committed to providing an inclusive workplace and equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants.
