What is a remote housing?

A Remote Housing job typically refers to roles within organizations that help people find, manage, or provide housing services remotely, without being physically present at the property or office. These roles can include housing coordinators, property managers, or support staff who work online to assist tenants, landlords, or housing program participants. Responsibilities might involve virtual property tours, handling tenant inquiries, processing applications, or coordinating housing assistance programs. Such jobs are ideal for those who want to work from home while contributing to the housing sector.

How does a remote housing specialist typically collaborate with landlords and tenants to facilitate successful placements?

A Remote Housing Specialist usually acts as a liaison between landlords and tenants, conducting virtual meetings, screenings, and property tours to ensure both parties' needs are met. They coordinate the application process, verify eligibility, and help resolve any issues that may arise during leasing. Strong communication and organization skills are essential, as much of the work is managed through digital platforms and requires proactive follow-up. Regular collaboration with case managers, social workers, and property managers is also common to maintain smooth housing transitions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote housing specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Housing Specialist, you need knowledge of housing regulations, case management, and experience in social services or property management, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with databases, housing management software, and virtual communication tools like Zoom or Microsoft Teams is typically required. Strong organizational skills, empathy, and effective communication set standout professionals apart in this role. These skills ensure that clients receive timely support, housing processes run smoothly, and remote collaboration is effective.

Job description

About College Pads

College Pads is transforming the way students navigate the transition from on-campus to off-campus life. Our platform enables universities to support their students by streamlining the process of finding and securing off-campus housing. By working closely with higher education institutions, we offer a trusted tool for students to connect with property managers and rental listings, helping to foster a foundation for wellbeing and success. As of January 2025, College Pads is part of StarRez.

The Role
As a University Operations Coordinator, you will play a key role in onboarding new university partners onto the College Pads platform and supporting existing partnerships by rolling out new features and tools over time. You'll collaborate closely with College Pads' Partnerships team, our Development team, and StarRez's Product & Tech teams to deliver a seamless implementation experience and ensure long-term success for our university partners.

This role is a great fit if you bring strong project management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences. While this isn't a sales role, you'll work directly with university stakeholders to support successful platform launches and ongoing optimization.

Role Specifics
Work Location: Remote, US
Travel: Less than 5% (The percentage of travel is an estimation, and it could vary up or down based on business needs throughout the year.)
Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Operations Manager, College Pads.

What You Will Own

  • Oversee the full onboarding process for new university partners, ensuring an efficient and successful platform launch
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for university stakeholders (including but not limited to housing, IT, and legal staff) throughout the onboarding process
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with College Pads and StarRez teams to facilitate smooth platform implementations
  • Work with university partners to roll out new features, tools, and enhancements post-launch
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to keep implementation projects on track
  • Set up demo environments for prospective university partners to showcase platform capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the implementation process and enhance partner satisfaction

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in project management, implementation, customer success, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with university partners
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Monday.com) and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Project Management, or a related field
  • Experience with SaaS platforms, higher education, or student housing is a plus
  • Previous experience in higher education, student housing, or technology implementation
  • Familiarity with the needs and challenges of university administrators and students in the housing search process

Reasons to join our Team:

  • Opportunity to be a part of a well-established, high-performance company that has been in business for over 30+ years
  • Full benefits including health care, paid time off, life insurance, and 401k plan with company match for eligible team members
  • A supportive team environment with emphasis on learning and development opportunities
  • Our Promise: You will learn, grow, and be appreciated for your impact and contributions
  • Z-Factor: Our most celebrated value, you will work with a team of caring, high-performing, and passionate people who have fun supporting our vision, innovation, and continuous improvement

Even if you don't have all of the Preferred Qualifications listed above, but feel you have what it takes to succeed in the role, we would love to hear from you!

We are proud of our diverse workforce and are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all employees. People from various ethnicities, ages, genders, and abilities are encouraged to apply.
