What is a remote help desk?

Remote Help Desk jobs involve providing technical support and assistance to users over the phone, chat, or email from a remote location. Professionals in this role help resolve hardware, software, and network issues, often using remote access tools to diagnose and fix problems. They serve as the first point of contact for customers or employees needing IT support. Remote Help Desk technicians must possess strong communication skills and a solid understanding of computer systems, software, and troubleshooting techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote help desk professional?

To thrive as a Remote Help Desk professional, you need strong technical troubleshooting abilities, knowledge of common operating systems, and typically a background in IT or related certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator. Familiarity with remote desktop tools, ticketing systems like Zendesk or ServiceNow, and communication platforms is essential. Exceptional customer service, patience, and clear verbal and written communication skills make someone stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for efficiently resolving user issues, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining smooth IT operations from a remote setting.

What are some common challenges faced by remote help desk professionals and how can they be managed?

Remote Help Desk professionals often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting issues without physical access to devices, managing communication across different time zones, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. To address these, it's important to develop strong problem-solving skills, utilize remote support tools effectively, and establish clear communication channels with both users and team members. Proactively documenting solutions and staying updated on the latest software and security protocols can also help manage these challenges and ensure efficient support.

Job description

Inside Sales Representative — EIDL Resolution Consultant
Full-Time  |  M–F 8:30–5:30 Central  |  100% Remote (U.S.)
$48,000 base + uncapped tiered commission
$75,000–$125,000 first-year OTE
Full $48,000 base from day one — including both months of paid training
100% inbound — no cold calling, no prospecting, no list building About Us

At EIDLexit we help small business owners buried under an SBA disaster loan (EIDL) get back on their feet. Some are already in collections. Others can see it coming and want out before it gets there. Most are frightened, embarrassed, angry at the government, and out of options.

We are not a debt settlement or debt consolidation company. We don't buy debt, we don't lend, and we don't talk anyone into borrowing their way out. We help owners find the best legitimate path out and rebuild — without taking on more debt.

As a Christian-led organization, we are grounded in faith, integrity, compassion, and respect.

The Role

You are hired for the closing seat as an EIDL Resolution Consultant. Once you're certified, you run 5–8 pre-scheduled video consultations a day with owners who have already asked for help. Appointments are qualified before they reach your calendar — usually by our team, sometimes because the owner vetted themselves in. You diagnose, present the resolution path, handle real objections, and close. When the client commits, our service team takes over and you keep selling.

You Earn the Desk First

Month one is training. Live instruction, heavy daily role-play, and shadowing our top consultants on real calls — with a written test at the end of weeks two, three, and four.

Month two you sell. Half your day stays in instruction and call review. The other half you run two to four live consultations, with a sales manager or trainer alongside you. You earn commission on what you close, and you carry no quota while you're learning.

Day 61, the desk is yours — a full load, on your own.

You move as a cohort, and every gate is scored in writing against a rubric you get in advance. We train tactical empathy, not pressure scripts.

What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years selling — you carried a number and closed your own deals
  • A strong plus: you've sold where the decision mattered and waiting made it worse — real financial or legal consequences, not an impulse purchase. Tax resolution, selling legal services (a closing role, not intake), foreclosure defense, loan modification, mortgage, debt settlement, or insurance
  • Coachable and competitive. You take feedback and come back better
  • You would rather tell someone the truth than close them
What We Offer
  • Four weeks PTO a year — one week granted the day you start
  • All national holidays paid, plus Good Friday and Christmas Eve
  • Health insurance and retirement launching Q1 2027
  • Continuous coaching — call reviews and role-play weekly, not a one-time onboarding
  • KPIs you know in advance and see every month — production, conversion, CRM hygiene, how you work with people. Annual pay reviews run off those same measures, so nothing lands as a surprise
  • Real room to grow. We're scaling fast, new roles and management seats keep opening, and we promote from within first
Position Details

Full-time W-2100% remote, open to candidates across the United States. You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as a W-2 employee — we do not sponsor visas. A few states may be unavailable depending on where we are registered to employ; we will tell you early if yours is one of them.

How to Apply

Five stages, honest time estimates at each one, and we don't ghost candidates — you will hear back either way.

First step is a short recorded Q&A: we ask a handful of questions, you answer them on camera one at a time, about six minutes total. Take it whenever it suits you — nothing to schedule for this step.

EIDLexit is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
