Job description

Role: Desktop Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Range: $120,000 - $130,000 / year

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Desktop Engineer to support and enhance enterprise endpoint infrastructure within a large-scale corporate environment. This role combines hands-on technical support, systems administration, endpoint engineering, and project leadership responsibilities to ensure a stable, secure, and efficient end-user computing experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background supporting Windows environments, endpoint management platforms, desktop security technologies, and enterprise device deployments. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and end users while serving as a subject matter expert for desktop engineering initiatives and operational improvements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced support and technical guidance for escalated endpoint, operating system, hardware, and peripheral-related issues
  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex desktop and endpoint support incidents
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures
  • Administer and support enterprise endpoint management and device deployment platforms
  • Manage operating system updates, software deployments, patching activities, and endpoint lifecycle processes
  • Lead desktop engineering initiatives and technology implementation projects from planning through deployment
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies that improve endpoint performance, security, and user experience
  • Support enterprise endpoint security initiatives and vulnerability remediation efforts
  • Develop automation solutions and scripting enhancements to improve operational efficiency
  • Partner with cross-functional IT teams to ensure reliable desktop infrastructure and device management services
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize endpoint platforms and supporting technologies
  • Assist with project planning, change management activities, testing efforts, and user communications

Required Background

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise desktop environments with increasing technical responsibility
  • Extensive experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems and enterprise endpoint hardware
  • Strong background administering endpoint management, software deployment, and device configuration platforms
  • Experience supporting enterprise security tools, remote access solutions, and endpoint protection technologies
  • Experience managing operating system upgrades, software packaging, patch management, and deployment initiatives
  • Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including directory services, server administration, and systems management tools
  • Experience supporting large-scale desktop engineering projects within complex business environments
