Position Summary

The Contractor Director serves as the executive lead for the State of Tennessee Facilities Services Management Contract. This role acts as the primary point of contact on behalf of our client, with full responsibility for contract performance, operational delivery, stakeholder alignment, and overall program success. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader and hands-on operator capable of managing complex, multi-site operations while maintaining strong partnerships with public-sector stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Contract & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between our client and the State of Tennessee.
  • Lead contract execution, ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements and performance standards.
  • Oversee the transition from contract award to full operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with State governance and contract management teams to define, manage, and meet operational expectations.
  • Align service delivery with the State's strategic objectives and evolving business needs.
  • Develop and maintain account management frameworks, reporting processes, and performance metrics.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and resolve service delivery issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate organizational capabilities and recommend value-driven improvements and operational innovations.
  • Direct all communication channels, governance meetings, and reporting forums.
  • Manage staffing models to ensure proper resource allocation and operational coverage.

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage dedicated teams and support resources to deliver consistent, high-quality facility services.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to ensure operational excellence across multiple sites.
  • Drive performance through clear expectations, coaching, mentoring, and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical), Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5โ€“8+ years of progressive leadership experience in public-sector facilities management, construction/project management, or maintenance operations.
  • Experience managing government, transportation, or infrastructure-related assets preferred.
  • Proven success leading operations in a 24/7 multi-site environment.
  • Experience managing mobile maintenance teams and operational facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contracts, vendors, budgets, and procurement processes.
  • Proven track record delivering capital or operational projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience working within collaborative or matrixed leadership environments is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and structural systems.
  • Solid project management capabilities; PMP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with GIS, ERP, or asset management systems is advantageous.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High degree of professionalism, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, respond to emergencies, and travel between operational sites as needed.

Working Conditions

Combination of office, remote, and field-based work with frequent site visits. Regular travel throughout the region may be required. Position may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and occasional after-hours or emergency response responsibilities.
