Job description

Overview

We are seeking a US-based Remote Truss Designer with 2–5 years of MiTek experience who is passionate about delivering accurate, optimized roof and floor truss designs while collaborating with Sales, Production, and Customers to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek engineering software.
  • Interpret architectural and structural blueprints to create accurate truss placement layouts and engineered truss designs.
  • Optimize truss designs for structural integrity, manufacturability, material efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while complying with company standards and applicable building codes.
  • Specify all required truss hardware, metal connector plates, hangers, and engineered components.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including Job Tracking Sheets, design revisions, and project records.
  • Prepare and submit truss approval packages and customer documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Estimators, Production, and Customers to resolve design challenges, answer technical questions, and support project timelines.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of truss design experience using MiTek software.
  • Experience designing roof trusses, floor trusses, and truss placement layouts.
  • Working knowledge of residential and light commercial wood framing, engineered wood products (EWP), and current building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of truss engineering principles, load paths, gravity and lateral loads, and structural design concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, sales teams, manufacturing, and engineering.
