Zest Culinary Services at William Carey University is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and service-oriented On-Call Banquet Worker to join our Catering & Events team. This position plays an important role in delivering exceptional hospitality for university functions, conferences, banquets, weddings, and special events held across campus.
As an On-Call Banquet Worker, you will help create memorable guest experiences by providing professional, courteous service while ensuring events are executed seamlessly from setup to breakdown. About This Position
This is an on-call, part-time position designed to support catered events as business needs arise. While there is no guaranteed weekly schedule or minimum number of hours, team members are typically notified of upcoming events well in advance and are expected to be available for the shifts they accept.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Set up banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and event venues according to event diagrams and event specifications.
  • Arrange tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffets, and décor as directed.
  • Provide professional food and beverage service during catered events.
  • Ensure guests receive prompt, friendly, and attentive service throughout each event.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet areas before, during, and after events.
  • Assist with clearing tables, replenishing food and beverage stations, and resetting event spaces.
  • Break down banquet rooms and properly store equipment, furniture, and supplies following each event.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with catering staff, event coordinators, and university personnel to ensure successful events.

Qualifications
  • Previous banquet, restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 30 pounds, and remain active for extended periods.
  • Must be dependable and willing to accept on-call assignments when available. Schedules are communicated in advance, and reliability is essential to the success of our events.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional daytime events.
  • Professional appearance and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
