Position Overview

Are you a dedicated Mental Health Counselor with a passion for helping individuals improve their relationship with alcohol? Cygnus Behavioral Health Services is seeking a licensed mental health professional (LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC) to join our dynamic team in a supportive and flexible remote environment. In this full-time role, you'll have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of our clients while enjoying a competitive salary range of USD 120,000 to 140,000 yearly, plus bonuses.

About the Organization

At Cygnus Behavioral Health Services, we strive to revolutionize the way individuals approach their challenges with alcohol. We provide an innovative online platform that connects members seeking to change their relationship with alcohol to a wealth of resources, including free anonymous community support, therapist-led groups, and expert guidance tailored to their unique needs. Our founder's personal recovery journey fuels our mission to deliver evidence-based care that is both accessible and affordable, empowering our members to embrace healthier lifestyles.

Work Environment

As a fully remote position, our Mental Health Counselor role offers the flexibility to set your own hours and work from the comfort of your home. You'll be supported by an experienced administrative team that minimizes your administrative workload, allowing you to dedicate your time and expertise to client care. Our outpatient setting fosters collaboration with a dedicated team of clinicians, enabling you to access valuable resources and best practices that directly enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments and intake interviews to develop personalized treatment plans for clients dealing with alcohol-related issues.
  • Facilitate individual therapy sessions and group therapy sessions, focusing on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Empower clients to engage with community recovery support options, highlighting the importance of support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, Smart Recovery, and Moderation Management.
  • Stay updated with continuing education opportunities to enhance your clinical skills, with costs covered by our organization.
  • Collaborate with the Care Coordination Team to ensure seamless service delivery and client support.
  • Encourage clients' active participation in their treatment process and explore harm-reduction strategies.
  • Optionally lead support groups or collaborate on creating “Expert Insights” content with our Content Manager.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with adults seeking to address their relationship with alcohol, employing a client-centered approach that celebrates progress and acknowledges the diverse paths toward recovery. Each client presents a unique set of challenges and goals, allowing you to tailor your therapeutic approach for optimal effectiveness.

Qualifications
  • A valid mental health license in California (LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC).
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field is required.
  • Proficient training and/or experience in evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Strong clinical engagement abilities, demonstrating empathy and building rapport with clients.
  • Knowledge of harm-reduction models and community recovery support options available to clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in virtual therapy settings or familiarity with telehealth practices.
  • A track record of effectively supporting clients from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of alcohol use.
  • Prior experience with collaborative care models and community support frameworks.
Compensation and Benefits

In addition to a salary range of USD 120,000 to 140,000 per year, our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, a retirement plan, and generous paid time off. We are committed to employee development, offering access to continuing education resources and professional growth opportunities that align with your career ambitions.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Cygnus, we believe in cultivating talent and supporting our team's professional development. As you gain experience and deepen your expertise, there are opportunities to take on leadership roles within your area of interest, contribute to organizational initiatives, or expand your clinical focus.

Why Join Our Team
