Job description

Position Overview

Are you an empathetic and driven Licensed Mental Health Counselor looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals navigating their relationship with alcohol? Join us at Sunshine Community Psychiatric Services, where we value evidence-based care and community support. We invite you to work in an engaging remote environment, focusing on personalized treatment approaches to foster recovery and wellness.

About the Organization

Sunshine Community Psychiatric Services is dedicated to transforming the journey of individuals seeking healthier relationships with alcohol. Our platform connects members to a range of resources, including anonymous community support, therapist-led groups, and personalized therapy sessions. Our ethos is rooted in accessibility and affordability, ensuring that high-quality mental health care is available to all who seek it. Our founder's personal recovery journey fuels our mission to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that not only helps our members achieve their goals but also celebrates their progress.

Work Environment

This full-time position is entirely remote, allowing our counselors to establish their work-life balance while delivering crucial services from the comfort of their homes. We emphasize a collaborative yet independent work culture, encouraging our counselors to set their availability without adhering to minimum hour requirements. We take care of administrative tasks such as billing and scheduling, so you can focus on what truly matters: your clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct therapeutic sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing tailored to individual client needs.
  • Provide support and treatment to clients, either seeking moderation or abstinence, while understanding and applying harm reduction principles effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that reflect their specific goals and recovery desires.
  • Encourage and refer clients to community recovery options such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Smart Recovery, and Moderation Management, reinforcing that these resources can complement our therapeutic offerings.
  • Receive payment for any late cancellations or no-shows to ensure a fair practice environment.
  • Participate in optional activities such as leading support groups and creating content for our platform, working alongside our Content Manager.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on individuals affected by alcohol use and their aspirations for a healthier relationship with it. Our diverse patient population includes a range of backgrounds and experiences, from those seeking to cut back to those aiming for complete abstinence. Our counselors are trained to approach each client with empathy, understanding, and a commitment to their unique recovery paths.

Qualifications
  • A valid license as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMFT, or LMHC in the State of New York.
  • Experience and/or certification in therapy techniques such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care.
  • Demonstrable understanding of harm reduction methods, particularly as they relate to moderation versus abstinence approaches.
  • Exceptional clinical engagement skills and a strong ability to foster trust and empathy in clinical settings.
Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge of community recovery support systems and the ability to integrate these resources into client treatment.
  • Previous experience in remote counseling settings, utilizing telehealth technologies effectively.
  • Participation in professional development opportunities, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning in mental health practices.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, complemented by performance-based bonuses. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, a retirement planning option, and generous paid time off to ensure our counselors can thrive both personally and professionally. Additionally, we cover expenses associated with Continuing Education Units (CEUs), allowing our counselors to further enhance their skills and meet ongoing licensure requirements.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Sunshine Community Psychiatric Services, we are committed to cultivating an environment that supports your professional growth. Opportunities for advancement are available within our organization, whether through leadership roles, specialized therapeutic training, or program development initiatives. We are dedicated to nurturing talent and encouraging our counselors to expand their expertise without the constraints of traditional clinic settings.

Why Join Our Team

Joining Sunshine Community Psychiatric Services means becoming part of a passionate team committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals facing challenges related to alcohol. You will have access to clinical support, a flexible work schedule, and a culture that fosters collaboration and mutual respect. Our team is driven by a shared mission to provide high-quality, evidence-based care and support, making this a fulfilling opportunity for any dedicated mental health professional.
