Diesel Mechanic
Hagar Enterprises, Inc. - Damariscotta, Maine

About Us:
Hagar Enterprises, Inc. has been a trusted paving and excavation contractor in Midcoast Maine since 1987, specializing in site work, utility installation, and road construction. We take pride in maintaining a well-equipped fleet of pickups, dump trucks, tractor-trailers, pavers, trailers, and heavy equipment to support our projects.

We are expanding our team and looking to hire two Diesel Mechanics to help maintain and repair our fleet. We are open to training candidates with basic automotive mechanics experience who are eager to grow their skills in diesel and heavy equipment maintenance.


Position Details:

  • Pay Range: $26 - $34 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Location: Damariscotta, Maine


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics and analyze vehicle and equipment issues using scan tools and diagnostic software.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, suspension, brake, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain and service diesel engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and braking systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and keep detailed service records.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engine failures, electrical issues, and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Utilize computer systems to manage work orders, parts inventory, and diagnostic reports.
  • Engage in emergency breakdown service calls when necessary.
  • Perform safety checks and follow all company and regulatory safety guidelines.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostics and repair.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use mechanical and electrical power tools safely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills for diagnostic software and record-keeping.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Must have basic hand tools.
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and flexibility to adapt to workload demands.
