The Fence Estimator plays a critical role in supporting the sales process by conducting site assessments, developing accurate material and labor estimates, and creating detailed scopes of work for fence installation projects. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential.

Essential Functions

  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain strong follow‑up discipline
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with sales, project management, and field teams
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when needed
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of all required PPE

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys to assess terrain, measurements, access, obstructions, and installation requirements
  • Analyze client needs and recommend appropriate fence types, materials, and configurations
  • Develop detailed fence estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and timelines
  • Create technical scopes of work and installation methodologies for proposal packages
  • Interpret blueprints and site plans to ensure accurate takeoffs and compliance with specifications
  • Collaborate with sales teams to support proposal development and client presentations
  • Maintain vendor and distributor relationships to stay current on materials, pricing, and product innovations
  • Support project handoff by providing accurate documentation to project managers and field supervisors
  • Other duties as business and client needs evolve

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 10-25 lbs.
  • Office environment with collaborative team interaction
  • Minimal travel required
  • Outdoor site visits in varying weather conditions when required
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments with exposure to weather, noise, and other elements


Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in fence estimating, construction estimating, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience with fence materials and systems such as chain link, ornamental steel, wood, vinyl, gates, and perimeter security enhancements
  • Knowledge of construction practices, site preparation, and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and civil plans
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check
