Job description

The Team: 

Upstart's Credit Dispute and Reporting team is responsible for managing and resolving customer disputes related to credit reporting, ensuring accuracy and integrity of credit information, and adhering to regulatory requirements. The credit dispute and reporting team play a vital role in maintaining accurate credit records, resolving disputes efficiently, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. 

As a Senior Credit Disputes Specialist at Upstart, you will be responsible for handling the credit dispute functions including indirect disputes through e-Oscar, responding to direct disputes in Salesforce, and understanding the credit information that is being reported to the credit reporting agencies month over month. You will be required to make efficient use of the company resources and technical capabilities to properly investigate account information and provide accurate credit report information to the major credit bureaus. 

How you'll make an impact

  • Handling the credit dispute functions and ensures using company resources to properly investigate all account information to provide accurate credit information is being reported. 
  • Act as a liaison between consumer reporting agencies, E-Oscar, and Upstart resolving credit bureau related issues and assisting with customer inquiries. 
  • Ensuring information is reported accurately and is processed promptly whether it is a direct or indirect credit dispute. 
  • Ensuring compliance with FCRA in researching and responding to credit disputes, maintaining service levels, and updating account status as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years experience working on credit bureau reporting at a Financial Institution.
  • Credit dispute resolution experience with in-depth knowledge and familiarity with the credit reporting agencies. 
  • In depth knowledge and experience working with e-Oscar.
  • Familiarity with the Metro2 format and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of key credit reporting laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience working in credit dispute resolution, handling a wide range of dispute types. 
  • Experience  reviewing complex credit files, transaction histories, to assist in identifying errors or inconsistencies. 
  • High School Diploma and/or GED or relevant equivalent experience

Time zone requirements: The team operates on the East/West coast time zones.

Travel requirements: As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely.
