Director of Operations
Location: Amarillo, TX (or applicable location)
Department: Wealth Management
Status: Full-Time | Exempt
Position Summary
Herring Bank is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead the operational functions of our Wealth Management department, including both Personal and Corporate Trust divisions. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, maintaining regulatory compliance, enhancing the client experience, and supporting the strategic growth of the department. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a strong operational background in banking or financial services who thrives on improving processes, developing teams, and partnering across departments to deliver exceptional service.
What You'll Do
• Lead the daily operations of the Wealth Management department.
• Develop operations staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee operational workflows, onboarding of high-net-worth clients, securities and investment transactions, departmental operations procedures.
• Ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Partner with Trust Officers, Wealth Advisors, Compliance, Finance, IT, and Retail Banking to support business objectives.
• Lead operational initiatives, technology implementations, and process improvement projects.
• Manage operational risk, vendor relationships, and departmental reporting.
• Support strategic planning and scalable growth of the Wealth Management division.
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or a related field required.
• Seven or more years of banking, wealth management, or financial services experience.
• Three or more years of leadership or management experience.
• Working knowledge of trading and custodial platforms, trust accounting systems, portfolio accounting systems, and asset transfers,
• Strong operational, project management, and process improvement skills.
• Working knowledge of trust, wealth management, or securities operations is required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Herring Bank was founded in 1899, by Colonel C.T. Herring. Colonel Herring lived in Vernon, TX and saw a need for a bank. The cattleman would drive their cattle from Oklahoma through Vernon to Fort Worth to sell their cattle. When the cattleman sold their cattle and they went back to Oklahoma they were loaded with cash. Oklahoma was know as the badlands for a good reason, when the cattleman crossed in to Oklahoma they could lose their life and it was a sure bet that they would lose their money. With a bank in Vernon, TX, Herring Bank, they could deposit their funds and when they crossed into Oklahoma, the badlands, they would not lose their money, so the thieves had no reason to rob them
