Job description

About Northstar (Powered by Nayya):

Northstar is a financial wellness benefit that provides personalized guidance to support every employee on their unique financial journey. We partner with employers to reach employees at the start of their relationship with money-their paycheck-combining 1-on-1 advice from CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals with easy-to-use tools and education.

In 2025, Northstar was acquired by Nayya to build a unified health and wealth experience-combining Nayya's benefits intelligence and AI-driven guidance with Northstar's financial planning capabilities and planner team. Together, we're making benefits simpler, more personalized, and more actionable for employees year-round.

Financial Planner, US Overview:

The Financial Planning team delivers 1-on-1 advice that helps employees make confident financial decisions across core planning topics and workplace benefits.

We're hiring a Financial Planner to join our team of CFP professionals, working directly with Northstar members (employees of our employer clients) to provide client-first financial guidance via text-based chat and video calls. We're most importantly looking for someone who is excited about our vision and mission-we're redefining how financial wellness works and are passionate about making real financial planning accessible to everyone.

What you'll do:

  • Build customized financial plans and provide actionable guidance to improve members' financial health
  • Provide education that empowers members to maximize their employer benefits, including health plans, equity programs (ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, ESPP), and related tax implications
  • Offer guidance on cash flow, debt payoff, saving, and investing-tailored to each member's life stage and goals
  • Support members and build trusting relationships via text-based chat, phone, and video calls
  • Proactively engage members through various life events, providing both financial and emotional support
  • Consult with cross-functional teams as a subject-matter expert on financial planning
  • Navigate an evolving platform that integrates 1-on-1 interaction, asynchronous communication, and AI-assisted guidance

Who you are:

  • Active CFP certification required (CPA/PFS, ChFC, or CFA a plus)
  • This is a registered position (S65) and must be eligible for IAR registration in your state of residence
  • Expertise in all major financial planning topics: budgeting, saving, and paying down debt; risk management, insurance, and employee benefits; investments; tax planning; retirement savings and income planning; estate planning
  • A track record of providing client-first, comprehensive financial plans to customers in all life stages and from all walks of life
  • Strong qualities of empathy, kindness, and emotional intelligence-you know when to take a quantitative approach and when to take an emotional one
  • Experience using financial planning software, adaptability to proprietary tech, and proficiency with custom spreadsheet analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of agency in a remote, fast-moving environment and a bias toward action
  • An established process for delivering accurate and compliant financial plans, and the confidence to stand behind them

Why you might be excited about us:

  • We're mission-driven. We believe every person deserves objective, personalized, and affordable financial guidance-we don't make money from referral fees and are fully aligned with the people we serve.
  • You'll do "real" financial planning centered around the needs of the employee-no business development, no investment trading.
  • You'll be at the forefront of how financial planning evolves, working at the intersection of 1-on-1 advice and AI-driven guidance.
  • We have passionate, paying customers and are scaling quickly.
  • We are 100% remote, with flexible work schedules.

We do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
