What is remote equity compensation?

Remote equity compensation jobs are roles that focus on designing, managing, and administering equity-based pay programs—such as stock options, restricted stock units (RSUs), or employee stock purchase plans—for employees and executives, while allowing employees to work from anywhere. These professionals ensure compliance with regulations, educate staff about their equity benefits, and help companies attract and retain talent through ownership incentives. Remote positions in this field can be found at technology firms, startups, or larger corporations with distributed teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote equity compensation specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Equity Compensation Specialist, you need a strong understanding of equity plans, financial analysis, and relevant laws, often supported by a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Expertise in equity management platforms (like Shareworks or Carta), proficiency with Excel, and knowledge of regulatory compliance (such as SEC and IRS guidelines) are typically required. Attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills for this remote role. These skills ensure accurate administration of equity programs, regulatory compliance, and effective support for both employees and organizational stakeholders.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote equity compensation roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote equity compensation roles often encounter challenges such as navigating complex global compliance issues, managing communication across different time zones, and ensuring accurate data management with limited in-person collaboration. To address these, it’s important to stay updated on international regulations, leverage collaboration tools for clear and timely communication, and utilize secure equity management software to maintain data integrity. Building strong virtual relationships with HR, legal, and finance teams also helps streamline processes and resolve issues efficiently.

The Sr. Director for Data Acquisition and Transmission (DAT) Fiber Cable and Connectivity will hold full P&L responsibility for Belden's entire Fiber portfolio. This role is critical for establishing Belden as a market leader in high-quality fiber solutions, driving superior revenue and margin growth compared to competitors. You will lead strategic direction, product lifecycle management, and commercial excellence across global operations, ensuring Belden's continued innovation and market dominance in fiber solutions.

You will make a difference in the following ways:

  • Own the P&L for the complete Fiber cable and connectivity product portfolio, driving initiatives to enhance ROI.

  • Lead market research and define short and long-term product strategies, focusing on market positioning and commercial excellence.

  • Define and manage a cohesive global product roadmap, balancing long-term innovation with short-term customer requirements.

  • Drive operational excellence in collaboration with the Operations team, covering SIOP, stocking, localization, procurement, and supply chain.

  • Support regional Go-To-Market teams to ensure high-quality customer service and robust order delivery to channel partners and customers.

What you bring:

  • Proven expertise in P&L ownership for a product category with high volume and revenue potential.

  • Demonstrated ability in managing long-term and short-term product lifecycle management and product strategy.

  • Extensive experience in managing a global product portfolio with high volume and revenue.

  • Ability to efficiently translate market data into insights that accurately inform global pricing and costing ranges.

  • A value-focused and innovative mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to develop new products or upgrade existing products.

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $180,000 - $210,000 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant's experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
