What is a remote enrolled nurse?

Remote Enrolled Nurses are qualified nursing professionals who provide healthcare services from a location outside of traditional clinical settings, often using telehealth technology. They perform duties such as patient assessments, health education, and monitoring, under the supervision of registered nurses or doctors. Their work supports patients who are in rural areas, at home, or otherwise unable to access in-person care. Remote Enrolled Nurses help bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility, ensuring patients receive quality care regardless of their location.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote enrolled nurse?

To thrive as a Remote Enrolled Nurse, you need a formal nursing qualification, current enrollment with the relevant nursing board, and strong clinical skills in patient care and assessment. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, digital patient record systems, and remote monitoring tools is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities help you build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with remote teams. These skills enable high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care in a virtual healthcare environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote enrolled nurses, and how can they be managed?

Remote Enrolled Nurses often encounter challenges such as limited in-person patient interaction, reliance on technology for communication, and coordinating care across different time zones. To manage these challenges, it’s important to develop strong digital communication skills, become comfortable with telehealth platforms, and maintain clear documentation. Building rapport with both patients and the wider healthcare team remotely can also enhance collaboration and ensure high-quality care.

Job description

About Belle
Belle is a fast growing engagement company that is revolutionizing home healthcare - and it all begins with the feet. With 25M+ U.S. seniors no longer able to see or reach their feet, a lack of self care and mobility challenges cost the health insurance plans $38B+ in preventable medical spending every year.
Belle trains and manages a network of nail technicians or "Belle Technicians" who provide in-home foot care (aka medical pedicures). Belle uses cutting edge data science to identify those most in need on behalf of health plans and deploys its services accordingly. While in the home, Belle Technicians complete assessments and screenings, often being the first to identify emerging issues below and above the knee. As these issues arise, a team of remote nurses coordinate care with other healthcare providers - preventing serious and costly episodes.
Our mission: Bring Joy to Healthcare. Join us if our cause inspires you!
About this Role
Belle is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide remote telehealth support for Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in our Chronic Care Management (CCM) program. This role focuses on responding to urgent clinical escalations from our nursing team, with the majority of calls involving poorly controlled hypertension, medication concerns, and other non-life-threatening acute issues.
As a Telehealth Provider, you will assess members remotely, determine the appropriate level of care, provide evidence-based treatment recommendations, and collaborate closely with nurses, Community Health Workers, primary care providers, and care coordinators to help keep members healthy and out of the emergency department whenever clinically appropriate.
This is a fully remote position supporting a fast-growing, mission-driven organization dedicated to bringing joy to healthcare.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct telehealth evaluations for Medicare beneficiaries experiencing urgent, non-emergent clinical concerns
  • Evaluate symptoms, review medical histories, and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Determine when escalation to the member's primary care provider, emergency department, or 911 is clinically indicated
  • Document all encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist in reducing avoidable emergency department visits and hospitalizations through proactive clinical intervention.
  • Provide patient education on disease management, medications, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring.
  • Promote medication adherence and self-management of chronic conditions.
  • Provide clinical guidance and education to nursing staff on appropriate escalation pathways.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.
  • National certification appropriate to specialty.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice experience, preferably in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, urgent care, or chronic disease management.
  • Experience managing hypertension and common chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart failure, COPD, and chronic kidney disease.
  • Prior telehealth or virtual care experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and patient education abilities.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EMRs.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Benefits
  • 401k
  • PTO, Sick, Wellness leave, and Paid Holidays
  • Opportunity for significant career growth and expansion of responsibilities
  • Ability to reshape an industry and protect lives
